I went to Poundland and bought some of the car spray paint, they only had white. It's great. I sprayed a glass vase and two coat hooks (also purchased in poundland - originally untreated wood with brass hooks) and am really pleased with the results. I wasn't sure if it would work on glass but it worked a treat. Unfortunately I managed to drop said vase whilst I was holding in admiring my handiwork
I really would recommend a trip to poundland, I was at the Glasgow Fort one and they had tins of that international tile paint and melanine paintt. I can remember buying the tile paint in b and q and it was at least £10. They never had a great variety of colours. I got some duck egg blue melamine paint but they had blue, yellow and cream tile paint.
I also got small tins of radiator enamel paint in white (not sure the make but look expensive). They also had paint brushes that b and q used to sell - decent quality ones and lots of other diy stuff (sandpaper, paint roller and tray, small roller with edger).
Thanks so much for the update! (And sorry about your vase)
Unfortunately my Poundland has not had paint in this week but they said they expect to have it in future. I got new paint rollers and trays while I was there so worth a trip anyway!
I went to PoundWorld instead (such a down-at-heel place compared to Poundland!:rotfl:).
I bought AutoPaint in black gloss and metallic silver and gold in spraypaint, and 'Antique Gold' paint in a small tin, all for £1 each. The small tin is a horrid see-through toffee colour and shall go to the recycling unit on my next trip! The metallic silver is very much a car-silver colour, not good for indoors IMO so I shall spray my wheel trims with it and not buy more. But the Black gloss is fab and I shall stock up more for my outside gate and stair rail. And the metallic gold is a lovely muted shade that I will try on the wooden mirror frame that I bought at the booty last week.

I did wonder about taking that off....also daft question lol but do i need to pain the inside of the door too?
I will definately take pictures too, i can believe how something so simple has got me so excited lol I seriously need to gt a life haha
You've got enough work to do, Taliahmai no need to paint the insides of the doors unless you really want to!
Agree that satinwood works out really well.0 -
Did you give the small tin a reall good stir? Probably you did but I remember some gold paint I got once and all the gold was at the bottom - you had to stir loads before using it to bring the gold colour up and mix it in. Was worth it though as dried with a lovely sheen.0

It is completely a matter of personal preference. I am in the middle of paintin an old mexican pine cupboard and the pine is a horrible waxy orange colour so I am painting inside and out. For my oak dresser that I did a couple of years ago, I painted the inside of the doors but I left the inside shelves natural because they were in beautiful condition and matched the bare dresser top that I was also leaving natural.0 -

Mooloo I have got something similar
can I ask what curtains you are going to use? I am struggling to find some to match
This is going to be for the spare box room - it is going to be soooo pretty and I cannot wait till I ahve finished DD's room to start it
DD said she thinks it is going to be my room and I am going to fall out with DH and say "I'm sleeping in the spare room" :rotfl::rotfl:
The back of my duvet is pale blue with white spots, so I may go for a spotty fabric. Originally I was thinking of Blue gingham. At the moment I have second hand yellow curtains up.So I really must get something made up soon.
Problem is I love the Cath Kidston fabrics but they are just so expensive for my frugul budget! We will see. I think Clarke and Clarke do some fabrics that are around £10 a metre. So will have to see.?When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Comments please!
As you all know I am doing up DD's room, sort of vintagy, chabby chic! What are your thoughts on this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110648183128&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
painted F&B dimnity??? I painted the dresser in F&B dimnity which is also going in the room Also, do you all think the price is ok? I do not think it will go up more as this is the second time the person has listed it!
Another question - I bought this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170602547083&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT off eBay to go on top of the dresser, should I spray it an off white or how would you experts do it?
I have inherited a mirror thats very similar to this. It is brass surround, and abit of a dust collector.! I had it in my front room in the cottage but now I am not so sure, as my front room is a bit more modern, with a striped carpet, and plain curtains, in vivid colours.!When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
No time to read but I just bought this from Matalan http://www.matalan.co.uk/fcp/product/fashion-to-buy-online/Bedroom/Tonal-Traditional-Print-King/31364&resultsPerPage=100&attrList=Dept,brand . £14 for a kingsize, shiny feeling material so I shall see how it feels tonight. I've got it on bed now and it's sooooooo pretty
it even goes with the soft lime that DH painted the room
