The back of my duvet is pale blue with white spots, so I may go for a spotty fabric. Originally I was thinking of Blue gingham. At the moment I have second hand yellow curtains up.So I really must get something made up soon.
Problem is I love the Cath Kidston fabrics but they are just so expensive for my frugul budget! We will see. I think Clarke and Clarke do some fabrics that are around £10 a metre. So will have to see.?

Sounds great, are you going to make them yourself? Think I may look at Dunelm Mill as they have some good stuff that is not too expensive :D

No time to read but I just bought this from Matalan http://www.matalan.co.uk/fcp/product/fashion-to-buy-online/Bedroom/Tonal-Traditional-Print-King/31364&resultsPerPage=100&attrList=Dept,brand . £14 for a kingsize, shiny feeling material so I shall see how it feels tonight. I've got it on bed now and it's sooooooo pretty :D it even goes with the soft lime that DH painted the room :).

if its too shiny to sleep under why not put a sheet under it first i do that with all our beds that have duvets, so the sheet is next to you and the duvet on top

But the Black gloss is fab and I shall stock up more for my outside gate and stair rail. And the metallic gold is a lovely muted shade that I will try on the wooden mirror frame that I bought at the booty last week.

    Pics to follow..... :D
Brilliant! I need to paint my guttering etc, so may just get the spray paint to get it done much quicker. I can tape bin bags and what not to the walls so the paint doesn't get onto the stone and then just squirt away :)
Love this bedding - any idea if they had it in a single size as it would be so nice in my spare room that I am doing shabby.
Not a clue I'm afraid. I was too busy trying to get it through the till before hubby spotted me/it :D

Thanks for the tip, I may have to give that a try. Or cut DH's feet off, he's a fidget :rotfl:

Could you not use the expensive fabric as borders or just as tie backs?
You would only need a little of it and you can do the main part of the curtains from cheaper material.

  • :hello: I've just discovered this thread and am actually giddy with excitement after reading it from start to finish! Am going to find the older 2 threads & read them as well....my poor children are being seriously neglected today:o

I can't wait to get started on my first project - though I did a couple of things up like this about 20yrs ago, just didn't know it was called 'shabby chic' and I don't think it was a fashionable thing to do back then!

I have just found 2 pieces of furniture on ebay that are due up soon and are currently pennies so fingers crossed I win them.

That fabric is just sooo pretty I love it!

Well I won one of the items I was after on Ebay for £5.55:j didn't bother to bid on the other item I'd seen which was a beside table as I'm going to stick to doing one room at a time & a bedside table won't be needed in my lounge:rotfl:

There's remarkable similarity between this and the Summer Palace fabric/wallpaper from Laura Ashley. Main difference is that LA birds are far more exotic as is the price!:rotfl:

OOooohhh I like the sound of our duvet cover = whats it called - have spent days looking for new one - thought about going for lydia by kirstie alsopp but its a hell of a lot of money and when I saw it in the shop although from a distance I loved it - I didnt like the sheen that it had on it made it look cheap - unless that one was just a dud one. Thanks
