As you all know I am doing up DD's room, sort of vintagy, chabby chic! What are your thoughts on this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110648183128&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

painted F&B dimnity??? I painted the dresser in F&B dimnity which is also going in the room Also, do you all think the price is ok? I do not think it will go up more as this is the second time the person has listed it!

Another question - I bought this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170602547083&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT off eBay to go on top of the dresser, should I spray it an off white or how would you experts do it? :o

If it was a cupboard that someone else might see inside I would take the shelves out and put pretty wallpaper on the inside, paint the shelves to match the outside and out back. I have done this with a bookcase and a corner unit and they look realy lovely, which reminds me I should post the photo of the bookcase!

    ok thanks for the advice

That bedhead would be stunning and a great price. If I were you, I'd remove the link in your post...you don't want to increase your competition :rotfl:

Spraying the mirror would be the best bet, it's a bit of a pain using a brush on that kind of mirror (speaking from experience :o)
  • Thanks so much for the advice guys, the eggshell is what i was after more then a white i think.....i have a cheap crappy council kitchen and i really want to give it a huge overhall and turn my house into a home!

If you go back a page or two, I've linked to a product that I used to prime melamine kitchen units before painting them.

I would never use gloss on kitchen cupboards - I much prefer eggshell finish. I find Farrow and Ball paint well worth spending the extra money (available in Homebase - I did my entire kitchen with one small tin). I painted the eggshell on with a brush then used a mini sponge roller over the top to give a smooth finish. Careful not to put too much paint on at once or you'll get drips; you're better to do two fine coats than one thick.

    Hope that helps :)

I'm no expert but when I painted the doors in my old kitchen I took the doors off to paint them. I do the same with my fitted wardrobes too. I'm lucky enough to have a conservatory so I lay the doors down (on cans from the kitchen:rotfl:) and do them horizontal. I find it so much easier to get a smooth finish and I can leave them there to dry and use the kitchen at the same time. I thought it might help you Taliahmai, if you've not done much before.

Good luck, and do take pics so we can see before and after.
  • I did wonder about taking that off....also daft question lol but do i need to pain the inside of the door too?

I will definately take pictures too, i can believe how something so simple has got me so excited lol I seriously need to gt a life haha

Taliahmai - I've painted loads of things, including a toy box that had transfers on it. I sanded it down first. I find I get a really good finish with B&Q's one coat satinwood paint -ivory is a good clour - and a small, sponge roller. Happy painting!

Yes I suppose in the ideal situation I'd have taken mine off, but I didn't have the space. Still managed not to get any drips though! :D
