Cake stand (home made of course) on the bottom full of goodies, tea pot & cups & saucers on top-to deliver to the table.
Painted, with old cotton hand made doilies glued secured to the 2 shelves with glass over?
Just said that because I've managed to but 1/2 a carrier bag full from local CS-think they were destined for their rag bag-for £1!!
Thinking of covering a boring large cream lampshade somehow with them.:j0 -
Painted definitely . I have drawers full of lace doilies and they cover loads of white painted tops. My last purchases were gorgeous ones with pansies on them.
a bit like this0 -
Inspired by you lovely lot I have taken a large but very scruffy Pine table (£5 from local charity shop as it had a dodgy leg)
Stripped and waxed the top and two coats of homemade chalk paint, sanded and waxed.
Now I have a table to do all my tutoring around :j
............... which cost me nothing to do just some time and elbow grease as I had a wee pot of paint left over.

Looks fab MG - bargain table to start with!
It's amazing how a bit of furniture can be transformed with a bit of elbow grease.
My new business is growing well but I really need to address my frame needs (the new frames I'm using at the moment are so hit and miss with dodgy joints and marked glass) - Ideally I'll buy lots of 2nd hand ones (proper chunky wood ones that are out of my price range new ) up and then paint them up but I don't want them all the same colours....so if I make up some chalk paint from tester pots, how long will it keep in a sealed container do we think?"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. I have found that the HM chalk paint doesn't keep very well - but if its only frames can you not just mix up a teaspoon of grout and some paint in a dish to do a tiny project at a time?

I keep my HM CP with cling film over the plastic pot. It keeps ok for a week or two, maybe longer but sometimes I get tiny lumps after a while which I suspect are from the side of the pot where it's been able to dry. I do carved picture frames with a chalkier mix than usual as they need less coats then and a few stripes and bumps don't seem to matter on elaborate frames.
What size frames do you need?0 -
I need frames that are able to take A4 with a mount (my homepage link will show you why) but finding decent affordable frames is a nightmare.
I have so much paint in the garage that I was thinking of mixing up some colours and having a "vat" of it ready in different shades to paint frames with as I find them (boot fairs/CS etc) It hadn't occurred to me to mix the colours and then just add the POP or grout as I need it!!
I think some of my work could benefit from a more "aged" looking frame so I think this might be the way to go.
