I'm using home made chalk paint. Today's lot so far- pine picture frame 2 coats no primer - cost .50p, mirror frame was wood effect cost £1 -3 coats, dark brown wood frame clock cost £2- 3 coats - plate rack with plastic coating, 2 coats. The plate rack was dark brown ( the orange one is in the queue) and it covered it really well.0

Have just learnt how to make fabric hearts at my craft group, wasn't as hard as I thought. Have just found local stockist of Autenico paint so quite excited.
When tried to make hm chalk paint it went very stiff:(Death comes to us all. When he came to Mort, he offered him a job. MORT by Terry Pratchett.0 -
the recipe I'm using at the moment for home made CP is 3 x Dulux emulsion, 1 x plaster of paris and slightly less than 1 of warmish water. Mix/stir the P of P and water for a few minutes then add in the paint.I find this really easy to paint on (on big flat surfaces)and no pilling, but I need to do many coats to get enough coverage from dark to white. 4 usually.
It keeps for a week or so, but gets more prone to tiny little lumps in the paint after a week , possibly from the side of the container. They knock or sand off when the paint is dry.0 -
You may remember I bought this:
I finished it and it now looks like this:
Hopefully these links work - I'm not known for being very technical!
I have just got these chairs today and am looking for some advice. I have power washed them and there is some blue paint under the black. The black paint seems very glossy - I am wondering if it has been spray painted. What do all you clever people suggest I paint them with? They will be used mostly in the conservatory. (By the way I paid £15 for the 2).
Blow, I have got it wrong again. Give me a minute and I will try to figure it out!
ETA - Think that's the photos now, had that little box again!0 -
Your supposed to spray those chairs with aerosol spray paint .You can buy it in car parts shops or sometimes in £1 shop.If you use ordinary paint it will block the weave pattern up0

I've only ever sprayed wicker chairs, but I have seen some dry brushed with chalk paint that look nice, but with black you will need a fair bit of paint to cover it. Unless you are going for distressed and vintage multi-layered look in which case the blue and black peeking though would look authentic. The legs and struts can be painted with a brush to save money and maybe sprayed on the last coat.
I used car white primer from Poundland, it's ok but one can only did about a square yard. Sometimes brand name spray paint comes along in there, but the colours can be strange.0 -

Does anybody know where i can find such thing with a wooden fitting or how to get the metal one to work; as one lef constantly falls off all the time.

what is there on the underside of your sofa to attach legs to?
IF you drilled a hole with a smaller diameter than the screw on the legs could you twist them in?0 -
I wondered if a big rawl plug in the hole, or wrapping the metal in plumbers tape, or superglue and a chip of wood in the hole to tighten the fit. Hmm, an interesting puzzle.0
