Also, the old cupboard is 20cm deeper than the new one. The cupboard it is attached to hasn't got a cupboard covering it, so everything is just kept in place by the old one. What could I do to fill the gap?

    Thanks x

If it were me Id try and use one of those cupboard doors to fill the gap, maybe cut some off the bottom, so it will sit flush with the floor and you wont be able to see its been cut then. Need a good saw though so you don't get any splitting.

I thought of that but the doors just have a cover of high gloss stuff, I know cos it can be lifted off another door.

So its likely to split then.
Maybe you could get some tongue and groove cut to fit and paint white?

meames - you could use self stick Velcro to fix a lightweight panel/hardboard/cardboard painted white etc in the gap while you make up your mind. Is that corner chockblock? That kind of gap lends itself to becoming a wine rack.
Or maybe some wicker basket type things wedged in would cover up what lurks behind when the old cupboard is gone.

Currently it's where plastic bags go to die, along with various electric cables the I'm not sure if I can get rid of yet. :rotfl:

Also when I was painting the kitchen and the cupboard was moved there was a definite draft from the area. I saved the polystyrene from my new microwave and I'm going to stuff it under the kick board, it s freezing in there cos there is no radiator .

the draft might be coming from the kitchen sink area where the pipes go through the wall - and travelling behind the backing to the cupboards. I knocked out most of my backs, and am using the kickboard spaces for storage - and I found freezing cold spots when I did that and had to squirt expanding polystyrene into holes and gaps. Those kickboard spaces are vast - mine are crammed full of tins of baked beans, griller machines and xmas baking trays. And beer, :D

How about a curtain on some of that net curtain wire? That can look lovely.
