No chance of a photo at the moment.
Came home with chair plus fitted it in spot in lounge surrounded by stuff!
We are sleeping in the lounge on two chair beds wedged together - need my cuddles.
Decorator was here all week - finished 1st bedroom and working on bedroom no 2. He will be here all next week so I want 2nd bedroom finished and office/4th bedroom decorated.
The following Monday - another decorator starts for a week - I want him to decorate bedroom no 3, landing and stairs.
Then that just leaves hall and old lounge/diner to decorate.
Been in upheaval now since April 7.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

wow! I'd love to have decorators in, but I feel for you with the upheaval.0

Never had decorators in when - 1st marriage - first hub was Diy.
2nd hubby is definitely NOT Diy.
I am now at an age where I don't want /not advisable to - do the decorating myself.
I washed some walls down with sugar soap and was in pain for 2 days.
So a decorator is what we need if the work is to be done. I am blessed that I can have a decorator. I will have no money left but the house will be great.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

just wondering if anyone has any tips on painting external edges ie: the face and the close part of a draw.
i find sometimes when waxing it distresses this edge, which is fine who want this but on many of my pieces i want them fully painted.
when i paint the draw face and edge i do it at the same time normally 3 to 4 coats, drying between coats.
should coat the face and let it dry then the edge/close, let it dry and so on till i get a decent build up.
ie: treat the 2 as separate items rather than one.
any other opinions please.0 -
I know what you mean. I had considered painting a thin strip or two on the edges before starting the big paint. I expect sanding might help.0

I got this to replace the irritating kitchen cupboard.
What would be he best to paint it with considering it is a high traffic area and likely to get very knocked. Also my cupboards re really glossy too. Eggshell or satinwood or even chalk paint?
Also, the old cupboard is 20cm deeper than the new one. The cupboard it is attached to hasn't got a cupboard covering it, so everything is just kept in place by the old one. What could I do to fill the gap?
Thanks x0 -
I'd do satinwood or varnished chalk paint. Like the blue blobs on your boiler, makes me feel at home0

I'm about to put more chalk paint on the two headboards - one has already had two coats of ascp Original. The idea of using primer was to cut down on ascp coats ( going from dark to white) but it was a mistake as the primer lifted in some places and made a right mess. I'll have to sandpaper some of the surfaces before painting on.0

Believe it or not the first coat of blue paint was perfect, I'm not sure what happened with the 2nd but it looked lime I had used a 3 year old to do the cutting in. :rotfl:0 -
well that's one headboard sanded & recoated. Dratted paint started pilling. Assume because it was going on ultra dry chalk paint. It's a new tin so hadn't had a chance to thicken itself. The next headboard is definitely going to get a bit of watered down ascp. Still, I only paid £5 for it in a c s so I guess it is worth the bother?0
