If you click on my name and go to my homepage the blog is there. ;)

What is the August Grocery challenge? Is it £100 per family or per person? Intriguing!

I need to buy some white paint to paint a set of untreated pine draws, the paint I would have used I cannot get I posted above about it

What's the best paint to buy other than AS

The one I cannot get is thin but goes on nice and stays bright white I've got something I did three years ago that looks like it was done just yesterday.

I need to buy the paint ASAP I don't want anything too glossy

I don't know that paint. There's a paint called Zinnser perma white which is self priming. Or any good quality (trade paints?) white satin designed for cupboards. If it's untreated pine you will need to get some Blackfriars problem solving primer to sort the knots first. Stick with WATER BASED to keep things bright white. Hope that helps.
  • Hi all - I'm not a newbie. I was cactuspotty but have had to set up a new MSE profile because I closed my old email account, then forgot my MSE password!

I've been busy on a few projects - which I've put on Pintrest. I'm also in the middle of making a patchwork baby blanket for my brother and his girlfriend's baby due in a few weeks.

But this weekend I'm planning to paint a chest of drawers. I'm going to be using 'Malachite Green Tile' from the 1829 paint range. I did a little stool in it a few months ago and it looked lovely.

has anyone ever covered a lampshade. in the next school holidays I've told my daughter i will paint and change her room she wants cath kidston fabric for her roman blinds and a new lamp for her desk, she has asked if i could get her a shade to match, we have a spare white base.

i could use an ikea shade i already have but never covered one before.

how do i do it, any tips please?

Yes I did one with doilies. You can stick things over the original fabric with haberdashery glue (easier) or carefully open the stitching and use the fabric as a pattern adding extra at the top and bottom. Once it's stretched and pegged in place you can trim off the excess and fold over at top and bottom, gluing as you go. You can find tutorials for both methods on the interweb.
