Mine's a small galley kitchen and it costs less to make a compact kitchen prettyIt took 2 years to get most of the rooms decorated (bathroom was still to go, but Hubby and I are now splitting up (not my choice). The flat I've found has plenty of "scope", lol

Ahh of course, should have known from the username! Good luck with your new project although I'm sure you don't need it looking at your beautiful 'after' pics. I've been where you are now and it does get better, keep strong xx“I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different.”

not visited for a while but i just had to share my excitement at finding a much longed after bureau for £10 in my local Help The Aged shop:dance:. its been heavily covered in nasty dark varnish ( i think thats the reason it was only £10 as the shop isnt usually that cheap).
I was with my Mum at the time so putting it in her car saved me paying for delivery so very happy. my apologies to the lady who spotted it 10 seconds after i did! but it has come to a good home:grinheart'there goes an old transexual, last seen heading south,

Thank you Seakay for your help.
I recently picked up a couple of bits from freecycle - a dressing table and a chest of draws (which when you pull the top foward, it reveals a letter rack - which i thought was pretty cool!) Its like a secret thing.
Also i went to an auction with my mother and spent a little bit to much. I've now got loads of chairs and a couple of cabinets and my work colluege has offered me a dresser.
I can feel myself being extreamly busy!0 -
Newlysingle that looks gorgeous and your flat will look just as fab. It helps to have a project. I too am in your situation and focussing on my house has got me through it. xxxxIf music be the food of love then play on"No matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow". ღ ~Maya AngelouDoing it for my kids. NewlySingle wrote: »When we bought this house it was nice but not the sort of cottage that I knew it could be ~ Hubby and I are separating but one of the few positives is I've managed to find a new house, close to my mum (which needs some work).
The current house is in boxes at the moment but I thought I could share a few before and after pics of when it was "work in progress".
As soon as I get into my new place I'll start a shabby chic renovation thread ~ keeping busy is a good therapy and there will be plenty to do!:D
This was the Kitchen at viewing
and here is is after the accessories, worktop and F&B painting frenzy.
The Living Room at viewing (they covered a stone floor up with screed!!!)
new faboo living room ~ after the crowbar, acid wash, fireplace and lots of elbow grease!
Local friendly carpenter replaced the staircase as the old one was falling apart we also changed the room orientation around for more space.
Dining Room at viewing and it's new shabbier incarnation....
Sorry didn't take a picture of the awful day glow yellow bedroom but our painted wood and pale green shabby bedroom is much more restful
Hope you like the pics

Wow, I just reread your post. I thought this was your new house, so I'm really looking forward to when you move and looking forward to more pics. I love what you've done there.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0 -
Newly single, love your photos of the rooms in your old house. How exciting that you have a whole new project to crack on with. As always I can't wait to see your photos!0

It's a bit frustrating at the mo as I'm still waiting to exchange contracts. On the positive note a good friend is donating some spare furniture, so I have "projects" yay!Wow, I just reread your post. Your old place looked great NewlySingle, I can imagine how frustrated and excited you must be. Whilst getting my single girl flat was very bittersweet, I had the most fun decorating on a budget.
I picked up a lovely owl doorstop from B&M for £3.99...it's almost identical to the £22 Laura Ashley one!! Will try get a photo up on my homepage soon of the B&M one for comparison.
Our kitchen is finally starting to take shape - walls plastered and our first wall unit is going up as I type. Still a long way from finished though *sigh*0 -
Ladies, I need some help. I am about to eBay a seriously shabby chic small cabinet but am tempted to cover it with CK tissues... but it is polished/painted. Would it not work?
TIA
