Emna Kate, that is gorgeous! Great inspiration.
Whotesatin, I think it could look great. What about retro 50's colour scheme? Olive green with petrol blue/grey/powder blue/mustard idea?

Thanks, sugarwalsh. Our house was built in 1962 but it is really a 50s design and I loved looking at your Pinterest ideas. We bought our wallpaper and I made my curtains (both Laura Ashley in naturals) in January when we anticipated our builder would be starting work on the thru lounge. Unfortunately we are still waiting which has given us time to wish we had maybe waited before buying as we keep seeing other things we like. We do still love what we bought though, fortunately.

Thanks for that link, I have just spent ages looking at things on there.

No, not at all! Go for it! I've seen some stunning blacks and greys. Anything goes!

thanks, emma kate, I appreciate other peoples' ideas. Just loved your bedroom bench, so lovely. When you think what people get rid of, if only they could think of upcycling like that.

    That's gorgeous! Well done.

They did something similar on super scrlmpers with a coffee table into a footstool. Wasn't half as nice as yours.

I'm getting highly frustrated that I can't do anything whilst the kitchen work is going on. I've collected lots of fabrics for some patchwork and appliqu! cushion covers I want to make for the living room but just don't have a clear enough space to get my machine out.

Hey-ho - today I'm going to wax 9 x 2.4 m lengths of skirting board and the same of dado rails, ready for them to be fitted next week. I've got plastering to do too but can't do that until tonight as my Dads coming to finish building my larder. All the stud work is in, door frame made so today should be shelf fitting and door hanging!

Whitesatin, our house is a 70's house, but I love all sorts of furniture with clean lines. My husband laughs because everything has to be straight (Although I like to chuck the odd curve in to really confuse him...). Sadly he is a hoarder so our house is more cluttered than I would like, that said I have persuaded him that hiding some of it away in custom built cupboards is never a bad thing!
Sorry you are waiting for your builders - I have one who is waiting for work! Funny old world.
I lovepinterest and could literally waste hours on there!

Sugarwalsh, I couldn't just read your post and run. I very much have hoarding tendencies (which I am aware is not quite the same thing as being a hoarder) so you have my complete sympathy and empathy. The daft thing is I like clean lines and uncluttered things so it is a character trait I really struggle with, particularly as furniture is something I love buying! I hope you have some support if you feel you need it.

Well, I took the bull by the horns today and I had some Annie Sloan paint left over from doing my Ikea unit a couple of months back. I decided to paint one chair to see how it looked. I have a before and after photo. The chairs had recently been re-upholstered in a cream draylon so will fit in fine.

Haven't yet mastered how to put photos on Pinterest!

The chairs with the blue seats are being replaced with the upcycled ones as they are too wobbly.

When you see the carpet we inherited, red with pattern, you can imagine why I am impatient for the builders to get to work with my decorating and wooden flooring.

Gingham oil cloth is only £3 a metre in The Range.

I bought 2 metres for my garden table which is rotten and used the offcut a to make the easiest bunting IN THE WORLD!

I'm not quite a hoarder but this is my spare bedroom until yesterday when it improved slightly!
