  • OK i really shouldnt read these threads as I have decided that my house needs revamping. I am going to start with my lounge. The problem I have is that its rented and I am not allowed to put wallpaper on the walls!!! Grrrrrrrrr

I dont know where to start or what to do......suggestions please!!!

My lounge looks like this and this and this at the moment......plain and boring

I love shabby chic, hearts, red, black, creams, romantic, country cottage but I dont really want to paint my furniture as it cost me a fortune years ago (mexican pine) and I still love it.

Confuzzled at where to start......HELP PLEASE

Oh your rooms look lovely and just perfect for a shabby chic / primitive make over, wish mine looked like them. I wouldn't even think of painting your furniture it's beautiful as it is. Personally I just decorate with accesories like quilts, signs, etc.

Right, I have thought about it long and hard and I have decided not to paint it! It does need a bit of fixing up, what should I do? Should I sand it down and revarnish it - sorry about all the questions :o

Also, I spray painted the wicker chair white and it looks lovely, I am soooo happy with it - thank you so much for all your advice.

Me again :o I have bought another item off eBay but this one is for my DD's room and she definitely wants me to shabby chic it, it needs a lot of work. Please help, do I put on a undercoat (if yes what paint?) I am going to do the top coat in FB Clunch.

Bebs, I love that new unit too. I think it is lovely wood though, is it satin wood? I don't think I could bring myself to paint it though. Could you not accessorise it with glass bits and pretty boxes? Maybe some fairy lights around the edges?

  • Can anyone recommend an excellent wood primer?

I've been using the cheapo one from B&Q and after sanding (have just discovered liquid sandpaper - thank God!) 2 coats of primer and then at least one coat of eggshell it's taking me ages to do my dining table and 6 chairs (haven't even thought of the kitchen cupbpards yet!). I'd really like a one coat primer to cut down on the amount of work.

Hi Kaz, yes it is satin wood, it did not cost a lot on eBay :D My DD does not want it the way it is ( I am with you Kaz) I don't want to paint it - her ewhole room is going to be bright and modern and she said NO WOOD - so I have to paint, I just have not idea how :o
