Hi thesoo. I had a frame like that, it was plaster but painted gold and even though I primed & undercoated it I found the emulsion didn't take well. It looks OK but I can see it isn't great. Other people don't notice though because they don't look as carefully. I don't know what the answer is.0

In 2012 I pledge to:- Save £1 a day, meal plan, be more organised, have NSDs, set myself a budget AND STICK TO IT, throw all loose change into Sealed Pot and not open it till 29th November.:money:0 -

That dolls house is lovely! Is it for you to keep/display or is it a gift or for a child?

Over in Casa Bibbitybob we're definitely going shabby rather than chic at the moment...no working kitchen anymore, although the new one is sat in GIANT boxes piled to the living room ceiling waiting for lots of jobs to be done before it can be fitted. OH is plumbing as I type, he's working very very hard bless him.
Due to house full of dust I've not bought any bits of furniture lately, or anything pretty, however I did cave and treat myself to the constellation mirror in the LA sale.
We also picked up a couple of rolls of this wallpaper for £1.50 (batch ends) so that will be a feature wall in the box room once we get to it. Not what I would have chosen usually, but I'm thinking with shabby cream furniture and the odd silver/black accessory it could look spiffing.0 -

Did you sand the mirror? If not, the paint wouldn't have had a surface to grip to iyswim. I've always used oil based eggshell to paint similar mirrors, but that's getting harder to get hold of.0 -

Ive always wanted a dolls house so I think I am going to keep it for myself. I do have a 14 year old daughter but dont think she will be interested in it.Sealed Pot Challenge member #982

I'd definitly keep the dolls house that was a good bargin for 99p
I've been collecting dolls houses and miniatures for years and as it was a hobby I shared with my mum, I got her collection as well when she passed away. The hobby can be as cheap or as expensive as you want. Thanks, I think I will sand it down before I paint. I have decided to go with the green colour. Can anyone recommend a good sage green paint, not too dark, which would work?

I had a really simple one my Dad built for me when I was teeny - my Mum decorated it with wallpaper samples, paint tester pots and little fabric coasters as rugs, I loved it. You could make a mini shabby chic home0 -
