I use the Wilkinsons own brand of stripper that comes in the white plastic bottle. Just watch your angles with the stripping knife and don't apply too much pressure because you don't want gouges in it. And don't let it dry out. You should work a small area at a time.
I'll have a look on YT - see if there are any videos. There is a shop that does AS workshops - bus ride from me - £65 for 9.30am - 1.15pm - I was a bit tempted but can I learn free from YT?

I went on a course with The Barristers Horse last year, it was over two days from 9.30 until 5.00 the cost was £175. All refreshments including a light lunch were included, and we went home with a Tin of Authentico Chalk Paint, a set of paint brushes and a manual detailing all the course contents.

We were asked to take a piece of furniture to the course, I took two pieces, a child's chair and a plant stand/table, as I couldn't decide between the two, and managed to complete them both from start to finish in the two days! :)

Her course's are kept small, a maximum of 4 people, I found it to be very worthwhile as I learned such a lot. Although I thought it was quite pricey, it was excellent, and I have since more than recovered the cost on pieces of furniture I have sold.

All the details of her courses are on her blog if any of you should be interested.

Just paint! I would only recommend a course if you're learning marbling or advanced techniques. Chalk paint is just painting! £65 could buy a lot of paint or furniture.

emme kate that is just stunning. I take it it was a dark wax applied after painting? For my preference, I would have painted the top as well, but I do still like the contrast.

I am a major fan of The Barrister's Horse blog and have just ordered my AS wax from her. I'm keener to buy from smaller suppliers so they get a look in so will certainly have a look at Little Greene, although of course, final decision does come down to cost.

p.s. My ginger cat is nowhere to be seen when I am painting etc. Activity scares her as she thinks she may be invited to take part *g*

you can probably teach yourself quite a lot about chalk painting from reading blogs, and pinterest. There are at least two chalk painting videos I've seen recently. I started on small unimportant things to get the hang of it. I would say that if it's difficult to use - dilute the tin by a teaspoon or possible two of water and stir well, and don't back track over damp paint. It will go gungy! If you see a bit you've missed wait for it to dry ( 30 minutes, maybe less) and then do it. I think, while I'm doing it, as applying gloss paint, although it is similar to emulsion it is different in temperament.

I painted some large picture frames yesterday, and varnished them afterwards. That was very quick and I think will be easier to dust (on my annual visits to them!!)

Too far away for me - I am in Kent. The shop is in Sandwich - you don't work on a piece of furniture just wood samples I think.

My latest upcycle project that I've kind of finished other than waxing. Started it yesterday and 'finished' tonight.

Will wax at some future date!

If it's not against the rules, I understand some of you have blogs and I would love to be directed towards them please? I currently have fee subscriptions to many of these type of blogs but find it hard to track down UK-based ones. Any (little) knowledge I have has all been gleaned from Blogs so I am great fan of them.
