Lovely chair!
I bought some felt just before Xmas with the idea of doing some fabric hearts but life took over and I didn't get round to it.
I could feel that sitting here unpicking lace from a Bra that is only fit for the bin is wrong but I don't. I'll be adding it to my ever growing fabric stash.
Can I ask why budget paints aren't suitable for shabby chic? I'm more likely to remember if I know the reason.0 -

Hi, I too have lots of ideas for my fabric but just don't seem to have the time.
I use eggshell for any wood I paint (I think it is the lowest sheen of all the glosses). There are a few different makes you can buy but I always get the cheapest. I am a bit of a cheater but I buy a large tin of white eggshell them buy a reduced small tin of gloss paint from H**ebase and mix it - remembering that the colour you see will dry two shades darker. HTHI must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:0 -

My third project so far - I'm always on the lookout for free / cheap furniture now just so I can give it a paint-job, lol.I must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:0 -

I made the mistake of buying B&Q budget white paint to try it when I bought my first house. It was cr*p. Consistency like water and zero coverage. I had to do about 14 coats. I will never cut corners with paint again. You don't have to spend a fortune. The Wilkinsons paints are great. And a £1 tester pot goes a long way! I also like F&B but their tester pots are £4.0 -
I have just discovered 'OOPs paint' . This is something I read about on American blogs. In your paint shop there might be a section for paint that has been returned for being the wrong colour, or mixed wrong or whatever and at ours it's reduced to 50p a litre! So I got some lovely good quality blue grey paint for £2.50 for a large tin. Yay!0

I just used sugar soap to clean off the wood and painted it when it was dry.
I rubbed a candle on the edges before I painted it with 2 coats.
When dry, it was extremely easy to distress. It took less than 5 mins to gently rub with fine sandpaper.
Because it was eggshell, no further finish was needed.
A very easy piece!:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A
