Can't belive how many tight people are out there! get your bloody heating on you fools...do you want to suffer, do you want your kids to have colds, coughs and other nasty diseases??? Half of you wouldn't think twice about buying a round of drinks for £15, a meal out or something else trivial. Why is it why get tight about the important things and are loose and carefree with things that do not matter...pu your leggings and thick jumpers away and get your heating on!!
I have economy 7 storage heaters and once they are on, they take 24 hours to heat up, so there is no way I will be switching them on and off, so I want to make sure it really is cold before they go on. I can't remeber the last time I went to the pub, let alone buy a round for £15, the last meal out I had was on Mothers Day 2 years ago, my Mum paid. If spreadtheword would like to pay my 2006 winter heating bill, I will rethink about turning them on. Meanwhile, we will all dress more suitably.

  • I have economy 7 heating too and all electric heating upstairs. Not my choice of heating, it was here when I moved in. It's a real pain in the backside.

Its not just about the money - you ever think about the environment too, & germs probably breed better in a warmer environment. I find when I'm not feeling well its much better to have cool fresh air than hot and stuffy air.

Not been tempted yet: not shivering when exiting the shower in the morning yet. Think the test will be the next few days as forcast colder and wet. May have to put the gas fire on, we will see. Washing becoming a problem now as not here to put out in the day, and taking ages to dry on clothes horse as heating not on. Hope to last until at least the 15th, but will see how it goes.

Gosh, you're all making me feel like a person who feels the cold LOL

I've had all my storage heaters on in my country cottage (rural scotland) for over a month now and in lancs (by the sea, so chilly!) gas central heating has been on for probably 6 weeks or more and my thermostat is set to keep house warm at a constant 21 degrees, any cooler and I am cold

In my cottage in the country I also have a living flame gas fire on morning till night, every day as it keeps living room warm and looks nice.

One thing I wouldn't skimp on is heating. Course I'm angry the power companies are ripping us off for big shareholder profits (as that's what it's really about!) but I'm not going to be miserable at home as to be cold, is to be miserable to me.

I'd rather not eat than be cold.....

Hehe think I'd rather have some nice food and no heating :D

You get used to not having the heating on much, guess it's just like anything else, like if you don't eat much and you body gets used to not eating much, your body gets used to the temperature and then when you go visiting someone who has there heating on constantly you cant wait to get outside :D

I can see that is true, my friend visited the other day and when she walked in she said (the first thing she said :p ) was:

    'It's hot in here' LOL

On the subject of food, I can take or leave it I suppose - I am slim so my attitude to food in reflected in that but maybe that's why I get colder then other people as I have little body fat (well some, but won't tell you where THAT is :p )

I know I am naughty in walking around at home in skimpy tops - but when I have tried wearing thick jumpers etc. I feel so constricted...I like to flop around when i am on sofa watching telly and I find that hard in thick clothes. I suppose I should make an effort. My husband is always moaning it's too warm too, but I can argue longer than him and shout louder :rotfl: so the heating stays on LOL

He has been known to walk about in his boxers and nothing else to make his point, but that's when I become selectively blind like my cats can be selectively deaf when it suits them. Women and cats - pretty much the same I guess :D

  • I turned the heating on for the first time tonight, I hate being cold!
  • Brrr all this talk of no heating on is making me feel cold lol

Mr Pincher wants me to take my coat off to make a point about how cold our house is lol
  • I've found it really amusing that it's the women who are in control of the heating. It's usually the guys that like to have their way where that is concerned.
