    Welcome Crackerbread,

I'm also getting married on 11/11/11, we're Date Twins, yeah!

Well, I have confirmed the registry is booked, was worried as no payment had been taken, registry office supposed to be moving to another location so the woman didn't take a payment incase we wanted to change it. Turns out we can get married at our venue so after we see it on Saturday and confirm we want it to be there, we might just marry at the venue to save any hassle. From their website they do linens and the chairs are covered as well, must check this is included in the price. Just waiting on H2B to confirm a time we can go, then call the venue.
  • Welcome Crackerbread. Keep looking around for chair covers. There are loads of companies around us that do it, so managed to talk one down to £2.90 per chair by a bit of haggling! Where did you get your lovehearts from? Sounds like a really good deal!

Swinstie - that's good news about the options for the ceremony. It sounds like the registry and being really good allowing you the option of changing.

We're meeting the photographer we really want tonight to chat about what he can offer, see more of his work and hopefully arrange a price suitable for us all! We also managed to get our ceilidh band booked last week. My dad works with one of the guys in the band, so had got his number for us, then through conversation we discovered that he's related to my brother in law, and as a result he offered us a £45 discount :j

Just a point on photographers Bluespirit, what time is everyone getting married at? We've picked 4pm so we can get piccies done then have meal (and it won't be a long day for everyone), but the guy whose doing our piccies said it'll probably be dark by 3.30pm but he will work something out! Didn't even think about that tbh. He's an amateur photographer (we don't want elaborate 'posed' pics as we're both quiet shy, ha), so will be happy with some 'nice' pics for a small album.
  • We're getting married at either 1.30 or 2pm, so we should get some light! We're also getting the photographer all day, so he'll be doing pics of us all getting ready, arriving at the church etc. and he will be staying until the first dance. We really want an album which will capture every moment of our day, which is why he's there for so long!

We're having some posed shots, to keep the older relatives happy, but want a lot of natural shots, and a few different shots, all of which the photographer we're seeing does. I'm actually really looking forward to some dusk/dark shots so that we can create some unusual effects. Looking at a few wedding pics in magazines, I found an absolutely gorgeous shot taken when it was just starting to get dark that showed a silhouette of the bride and groom kissing, and I'd love some pics like that!

What about getting pics inside your venue Swinsite, if you're worried about the dark? Or getting more done before the ceremony?

  • Blue - the Maldives look gorgeous, that is where me and OH were originally going to go until we had a think and realised that it wouldn't be so great because OH doesn't like the sea lol. That's good that you are getting the photographer for the full day, you don't want to miss a moment because I have heard so many times that your wedding day is the fastest day of your life. And that's great about the discount :D

Swinstie - we are getting married around 3pm we think. Ours will all be inside so no worries about it getting dark. Not having outside photos :) I'm sure the photographer will work around you though and has plenty of experience in creating nice photos whatever the light is.

Crackerbread - welcome, it sounds like you have managed to get a nice lot for your money. Well done :D
  • Crackerbread - welcome! I wouldnt worry about chair covers if your struggling to find some. Once everyone is seated nobody can see the covers or the chair for that matter lol

we're getting married at 3pm and the church is being wonderful and getting out all their candles and putting them out on the window ledges so we can have the service by candle light. They have also offered to put up their hanging candelabra which is so old they hardly ever use it. And there is enough space to have the photos taken inside if the weather is poor and spot lights outside if we need abit more lighting.
Still looking for a photographer and a venue for the reception :(

Ok, so thinking maybe we should change our time, the earliest being 3pm though, for some reason 3.30pm isn't an option, weird. Mentioned it to OH last night though and he wasn't amused - did I tell you I can be fickle?!

On the same note, found another venue on the net last night and have emailed to ask if our date is free and for a rough estimate of costs. Again OH was not impressed - hey it's me doing all the work, deal with it! Actually I'm probably being stupid as it's a small castle which is a) probably outwith our budget and b) not our thing. I recently said to OH that our original venue would do as we're not exactly stately home or castle people and here's me trying to book a flipping castle!

Miss Stellerstar, the candles sound fab - I need to remember we're getting married in November, not the summer i.e. castle grounds would be great for summer wedding, not a winter one!
  • Miss Stellarstar - the candles do sound lovely, especially the candelabra.

Swinstie - keep trying with the venues, you will find one you both love, and maybe if your OH isn't keen you could take him to see things that you like in case seeing it in person gives him a new perspective. I also just noticed in your signature that you're saving for a house as well as the wedding - we are too. Next year's going to be an expensive one!

Our meeting with the photographer went really well last night. He came across as really excited and genuine about doing our wedding, and listened to a lot of ideas that we had, and has said he would try to incorporate everything we want in the photos. I showed him some pics I've seen that I really liked and he started talking about lots of really fab sounding ideas that would work at our venue. He also didn't hard sell in the slightest. He was happy just to leave the contact with us for us to sign in our own time if we choose to go with him (which we will), and has also said we don't need to pick our exact package until a week before the wedding, and that we can tailor it to exactly what we want (i.e. taking bits and pieces out of it if we don't want them, and adding other things in) and he will adjust the price accordingly. I'm just so excited as this was one of the things we really wanted to get perfect and it feels like we've found the right photographer for us!

Well got a 'sort of' quote from the castle - waaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy over our budget, infact it would be our entire budget so we'd have to get married in our undies with ring pulls as wedding rings and daisies for a bouquet! It's lovely though but obviously not for us, the date was free as well, boo!

Was telling my mum I'm getting really fed up trying to organise the wedding, and she told us to just run away - I was like 'we can't, we've changed the date twice already' (and I'm on this thread, not jumping ship to another one, ha). Is anyone else not 'enjoying' it? I've been looking at venues with their lovely decor and lovely bride and groom piccies and lovely chair covers (chair covers are what started it), and have been pulled in with the 'if we don't have chair covers it's gonna be a crap wedding' scenario, even though I know they don't matter! There's loads of things making me feel like that though, maybe the disappointment of not having the beach do we wanted setting in.

Ok, no more moaning, look on the positive, glad meeting with the photographer went well Bluespirit, sounds like you got a good deal going with him.
  • Stellar - that's awesome about the candles, it sounds lovely :)

Swinstie - that's a shame that the castle is over budget, there are so many expensive but gorgeous places out there. On the other hand though there are lots of lovely venues which should hopefully be in your price range, keep looking :) If we had more money then I would totally get chair covers because they are so nice but ah well, finances have gone elsewhere. Probably to the venue hire actually. But we love it :D But yeah, just keep looking. Maybe you will find somewhere that throws chair covers in as well, you never know! It's normal to not enjoy every single part of the planning. I relaxed when we booked the venue.

Blue - that's great that you have found a photographer that you like and that he is excited about doing it. :D Fabby!

Me and OH have been chatting and we are hoping to book our honeymoon in January/February if we have the money together. Hope hope hope! Can't wait to get it booked. Florida here we come! We went to Florida last year and people ask us why we aren't going somewhere different this time. We had a ball in Disneyland last year and just want to do it all again. We didn't get a chance to do Universal Studios so want to do that. We will be staying in the budget Disney hotel but that's ok, they have an awesome food court and we are both looking forward to have Mickey Mouse shaped waffles with syrup for breakfast again! I am so excited, like a kid again.

Also, in Jan/Feb we will be choosing and meeting up with our Humanist Celebrant who will do our ceremony. I have already picked which one I would like (still to let OH know lol) so will see if she is free on our day. Being November, hopefully she will be.

And we are both getting broody. May start trying for a family during the honeymoon ;)
