    Lovely photos Enchantica.

We got our photo disc last week and here are a few for you all to have a peek at.

We're really pleased with them :)

Can't believe it's December now and the biggest, most exciting month of our lives is all over and done with.

How are you all coping with life post-wedding? I'm loving it and looking forward to Xmas. Helps that I'm mega busy with work so haven't had the feeling of too much time on my hands.

I've been so ill since the wedding it's unbelievable!

The day after, both me and my husband :) came down with sore throats and sniffles....
probably the by product of being kissed and hugged by so many guests with colds we thought!

Off we flew to Cyprus - for the first 2 days, I felt dreadful, hot, cold, clammy, shivery, sweaty - kept bursting into tears, i'm sure that the hotel thought we weren't actually honeymooners at all lol.
The next 2 days i felt slightly better, and my husband felt dreadful - he perked up but i struggled with a chesty cough (i'm asthmatic).

We returned home Monday 21st and i went to docs the next day and was given antibiotics and steroids, with an order to return on friday if there was no improvement, because it shouldn't be left over the weekend. By friday 24th, i couldn't walk up or down the stairs without stopping for a breather!
My Gp admitted me to hospital there and then and sent me on my way. Verdict was viral infection acerbated asthma. After 4 days i was discharged and told to continue to rest at home. 2 days later, On Thursday 1st December, hubby rang the Gp to say that the antibiotics had run out, i was no better, could we get some more - she wanted to see me, down we went and was admitted to hospital again, there and then and sent on our way. This time my asthma was much worse, and everything was pretty urgent, and after IV Magnesium, Steroids and antibiotics the first evening, and a further 3 days of oral steroid and a stronger antibiotic, i have again been discharged to rest and recover at home, with possible whooping cough acerbated asthma!

At the moment, i find it very difficult to speak - talking wears me out, makes me cough, makes me start to wheeze and flares an asthma attack - i can't move much - walking has the same effect - so my whole married life so far has been pretty pants (though i've had lots of time to keep looking online at the fab photo's and remember the day!

Luckily, I married a husband in a million. Carlsberg don't do husbands, but if they did they won't come any better than mine!
He has been sorting my son and the dog, cats and rabbit out every morning - going to work - coming home in his lunch hour (either to make my lunch when home, or to let the dog out when in hospital!) and back to work (a 40 mile round trip).
Home from work at 5.45pm, sorting out dog and getting up to the hospital for visiting at 6.30-8pm.
Home - feed himself and my son - sort out homework and school bag for the next day - final walk and feed dog.
Do all the things on my list of things to do (things i need, people to ring, etc) and learn to use the washing machine, vacuuming (every day because of the pets!) ironing, the list goes on.
The last 2 weekends have been no easier - Up - walk dog and feed pets - take my son to stage school 10.15 - 1.30pm. in beween clean and tidy and sort out what i need for visiting.
Pick son up at 1.30pm and to hospital for 2-4pm. - home for a few hours and back at 6.30-8pm
Sunday - church and more of the above.

I've been told that the recuperation time is likely to be 4 weeks, so though i should be able to start doing little things hopefully sometime soon, he is going to have to keep everything going up to and over xmas!

i have married the BEST man on the planet, and intend to make suree he knows this when i get better next year!

no xmas presents this year, as we're skint from the wedding lol

Sorry it's so downbeat and bad news - i truly hope ALL the other november brides are having a better time of it then me

  • Our thread has gone really quiet! Great to hear about your weddings and so glad they all went well. Any more to report?!

I had fab day at ours, it just went so quickly! We honeymooned in Cuba and had a great time. Was so relaxing and just what we needed as we'd moved house 3 weeks before the wedding! We got our John Lewis delivery yesterday and spent the evening unpacking all our lovely new things!

Sorry to hear you have been so ill Nicky. On our 2nd day on honeymoon we both came down with colds and mine was quite bad. Spent a day at the spa and used the sauna and the next day I was so achey I could barely walk! Spent the day in the room reading and relaxing and was lots better by the next day. Really think it was all the stress coming out afterwards.

We were so pleased with the photos from our photographer, he was a complete star. My BM (not MOH!) was amazing as well and thought of so many details for me -- like giving me a mini bottle of wine with a straw for the journey in the car from my mum's to the venue! We watched the DVD that my uncle had done last week, it brought back so many memories of the day. Afterwards I felt like I had forgotten everything, but that and the photos really jogged my memory.

We have been exceptionally lucky and have conceived whilst on honeymoon! It's really early days (only 5 weeks gone) and I saw the doctor today so we're keeping all our fingers and toes crossed that it goes well.

Hope everyone had fab weddings and perfect memories. Lots of luck in your marriages x

Oooo - Congratluations Chrissie!! what WONDERFUL news!!

We may be wedding twins, but there's no more similarities!
Being our 2nd marriage (and a hysterectomy 10 years ago!) there will be no more additions to our family LOL

I'm so glad that you had a wonderful wedding, and that your honeymoon wasn't spoiled by illness!
whereabouts in Cuba did you go?

I really wanted to go to Cuba, but we decided to spend more on the wedding, because we can holiday anytime, and we will visit cuba one day lol (and with my ill health, i'm glad we decided to spend our money this way!)

I wish we had a dvd - I do regret not asking somebody to capture the day, i guess i just assumed someone would. Never mind!

Enjoy your dvd - Enjoy your pregnancy, I hope that everything goes really smoothly for you!
and enjoy this last few months of alone time with your new husband before your little one comes along!!

Congratulations Chrissy! That's wonderful news, you must be so excited!

We had a honeymoon fund rather than a wedding list and have now booked a trip to....Cuba! In July next year, can't wait. Really glad you and your husband had an amazing time there.

Nikki, a few months ago I had a panic and decided we needed a wedding video - what if the photos were terrible, we'd need a backup, and so many brides say they regret not having one!

So I made a shortlist of all the videographers I liked (£1500 upwards! Kind of negated the idea of brother-in-law's pro friend taking our pics) and then played all the videos to OH. He admitted they were nice but then pointed out that they're not that different to a photo slideshow set to music. The grass might be waving and the bride's hair blowing gently but otherwise not that different to a series of still images. And the more I looked at them the more I thought actually he's right!

So we didn't get one and it was the right choice for us. My grandad filmed the speeches (grumbling that my dad did 23 minutes!) so we have a record of those and I am absolutely thrilled with our photos!

Once we have a bit more time I'll ask either OH or brother-in-law (also a photographer and amazing at photo tech) to put together a slideshow of highlights to music and that will do the job nicely.

So don't feel bad that you didn't have a videographer, especially if you love your photos!

Ooo Zimm - I bet you can't wait!!

My oldest son (& Uncle actually) are both blind, so Damien voice recorded the whole day - recordings are his photo's...
He has 17 hours of sound lol and has made me a cd of the coach journey to the church (I wanted to get a feel for everything before i arrived - i've not listened to it yet though!) the service and the speeches.... It was REALLY nice to listen to the service again - when hubby collected me from the hospital, he had the cd playing in the car - that really cheered me up..

We also sent a copy of the service and speeches on cd to an elderly relative who couldn't make it

We get to actually see our official pics in January, (only seen them online so far!) and will eventually get a disc with them all on - I can't wait!!

Thanks for reminding me of what i do have - I think being at home unwell is leaving me too much time to brood.......

  • Hey again all

Sorry it's been a while, been plagued with illness and general depression unfortunately. The wedding was fantastic and I will put a link at the bottom of this message to my facebook so you can see the professional photos. The one hiccup we had was the best man was supposed to video the ceremony but forgot the equipment. I was gutted. Got the equipment for speeches and first dance though.

Honeymoon was fab in Florida. Wish we were back there again. We actually started trying to conceive at the end of it. No luck. Didn't think it would happen quick anyway I guess.

Two weeks before wedding I had lots of abdominal pains which doc said was IBS. Still had them when I got back, fobbed me off with pain killers. I got admitted to hospital because they got worse. Had X-ray, ultrasound and gyaene exam but found nothing. Discharged from hospital and waiting for more tests. It really sucks because we can't start trying to conceive again as I'm in too much pain. It's really crappy as its been hard to enjoy things post honeymoon and pre Christmas. Sorry for the depressing post. This just isn't how I imagined things would be 2 weeks before the wedding and 4 weeks after it.

Congrats though to Chrissy, you are so lucky to have conceived on honeymoon. X
