Hmm well how about having scones and petit fours then? Or you could maybe see if theres a local chippy nearby who would deliver a cone of chips per guest or something? ( trying to rack my brain to think of something thats not a sit down meal or a buffet! )

I know I've read in some places in the country you can rent those pancake stalls for weddings, but no idea how much they'd cost.
Was thinking of sending maybe my brother and stepdad to go chippy get portions of chips and make bread & butter :rotfl:

Kal25 - chips with bread and butter sounds an amazing post-ceremony food idea. I've had chips delivered from a chippy at an event I've been at, so definitely see if they will deliver. I'd say its worth asking for a discount if you're putting in a bulk order too!

I can't believe it's less than 5 weeks now! Spent most of today tidying up a few loose ends. Got our final numbers for during the day - 98  so that's the chair covers, place cards and favours sorted in terms of numbers. I've also just sent a list of photos that we definitely want to our photographer so that he will make sure he gets those pics done.

I got a bustle fitted to my dress yesterday - I hadn't realised I needed one, as thought it came on the dress, so it was a bit of a panic when I realised they had to be added, and the dressmaker who'd done my other alterations was too busy but found another lady who did it - disaster averted! :D

Meeting our florist again tomorrow for the final flower arrangements

I thought so bluespirit ...may needs something to stop getting butter on my dress though...I'm a terribly messy eater :rotfl:

    What's a bustle bluespirit??

    O can't believe it's only 25 days  :D :j:j:j can't wait just so excited :j:j:j:j
Few things need to sort out today and tomorrow while off college:) Need to try find better underwear the ones I brought at weekend are not going to do it I don't think....so need to find a strapless bra :o...need to ring the dress shop and get booked in for fitting...also need to try and get round to have another look at the venue and find out how many tables we will have..so I can work on decorations :)
Question...are any of you taking time off before the wedding (from work etc...) just asking as my mum & auntie think I shouldn't be at college the week before the wedding.....but I can't really afford to take the whole week off (am only there 3 days a week) and will just have had half term week before....I don't see what they think I need to be doing the entire week before??? :p
    How's everyone else's plans going? ? ?

Oh good grief, is it really only 25 days?? You're sending me into a panic! Last week I went nuts and decided to make my own candles??! Spent last night pouring searing-hot wax into jars and painted tins. They look good but it was a lot of faff when there are so many other things to do.

Had my hen last weekend, it was fab! An afternoon tea, crafting, and then dinner and drinks with hats. We were so lucky with the weather, it was hot and sunny! Had a gazebo and drinks in the garden before the tea, it was lovely.

On Sunday I had a hair-and-makeup trial, which was so much fun! Loved what the lady came up with and finally settled on a headpiece from Glitzy Secrets. I also took my wedding pants to the market and got them embroidered with "Mrs New Surname".

We're still trying to decide what to do for favours; I bought little cotton drawstring bags that I'll stamp with 5.11.11, which has been the theme of all our stationery so far but stuck as to what to put in them - either bonfire toffee and cinder toffee (traditional but very bad for your fillings and I doubt that many people would actually eat it) or chestnuts, with a "How to roast" card inside. Any thoughts??

A couple of weeks ago we did an engagement shoot, which really put my mind at rest about the photographer, who's a friend of OH's brother (also a photographer) but not a "wedding" photographer so wanted to make sure he'd get the right kind of shots. So feel much better about that - had been having a panic and trying to convince OH to get a videographer as a backup!

The weekend just gone was OH's stag in Manchester, which went really well, and I went shopping for flowergirl and page boy outifts for my wee siblings, a success. Also had the difficult top-table conversation with stepmum, which again went well and was a relief to get it over with!

Had one minor setback last week, which was that I've got braces on my teeth and missed the appointment to get them taken off! Couldn't get another appointment until the week before the wedding - was going to have a cry about it but then thought what's the point? It just means that now I have four dental appointments in four days in the week I finish work, as I need fillings and whitening. Have been self-conscious about my teeth for years but now they're going to be straight and at least a bit whiter if not perfect.

I really cannot believe it's only 25 days! Where did the past 11 months go?!

Hope all the November brides are getting organised and excited!!

Both sound good Zimm...alternativly what about popping candy? (to go with bonfire night ;))
Glad you had a nice time at your hen night :) I didn't have one...i've opted to have a few drink the night before :)
Glad you were able to sort dentist out then too..
Not sure about last 11 months .....we only booked ours in Sept :rotfl:

  • Sorry I've not got time to reply to everyone individually, this thread has taken off again :) I've been lurking and reading everyone's posts though. Sounds like you are all nice and organised.

We are just about there. OH has written his speech (with some hlep from me!) and vows (by himself), I have written my vows as well. Still getting the music sorted, got 30 tracks to get to put on our ipod and that will be it done. OH is in charge of getting them. I had my hair trial, I got a half up half down curly thing. Just what I wanted and I loved it. Final venue meeting tomorrow, Maid of Honour is coming along as well as OH. Then we are meeting up with OH's uncle on Sunday who is doing the photography. Then we are almost there...

    1 MONTH TOMORROW!

Can't believe it's less than a month for some of you! How fast has this year gone!!!

  • 4 weeks today!!!

Bought our USA marriage license and notary service for Florida yesterday :)

And am chuffed that my weigh in with my PT at the gym last said I'd lost 7% body fat so am down to 20% in 2 months! My target for this last month is 18-19% total so I've got more work to do :/

Already changed my mind on dress twice already, now have the perfect one, but thinking of changing my jewelley, so off to the Trafford Centre later to see what I can swap my old set for at Jon Richard.

Things seem to be working out great :) And to top it all off, we're going to see Josh Groban and his incredible voice in concert tonight, something I've wanted to see for years! Really can't wait for that.

Hope everyone elses plans are going smoothly. Am getting very excited now! - Bring on the Florida sunshine!!!

All sounds fab Scorpiokitten :) well I didn't find anything in way of my hair accessories but managed to find one on ebay so that is ordered..managed to get daughters hair accessories. Mum didn't find outfit..she so picky :rotfl: and she almost tempted mne to buy daughter a new pair of shoes for wedding...they were gorgeous but can't justify paying £22 when she has ones that will scrub up as new just to wear for the day :o
Going to pick my boys up today so need to make sure their stuff fits and get them measured for blazers and waistcoats :) (am sure they'll be thrilled being measured :rotfl:).
Am a little annoyed at myself I keep putting things off and it costed me this week :( Like the d'zage bolero I found on ebay...ummed and aaahh over it..then it was gone by time I decided it was a good deal:( Also went to order wedding cake yesterday only to find the M&S 3 for 2 on wedding cake has now finished..... so had to rethink what to do with that...may see if they do student discounts ;)
3 weeks today ......am so getting more and more excited :j :j :j

Hey everyone, glad plans are all going well. I can't believe how quickly time is flying by and we're all in those last few weeks :)

We had our meeting with the hotel yesterday to give final numbers and sort timings for the day. It went really well and we're confident that the hotel will do a good job of everything. Sorting the table plan was a bit stressful so glad that's done and dusted! Just hope we don't get any last minute dropouts or changes.

I had my dress fitting last weekend and go back next week to see if it's ok. I've managed to lose about a stone and a half since I bought it so feel even more amazing it :)

I had my hen two weeks ago. 9 of us went to London for a canal boat ride, comedy night & treasure hunt. It was so much fun. OH had his stag do in Wales the same weekend and really enjoyed it.

Everything else is ticking along nicely. Think we've sorted all the music so just need to get it all on CDs now. I have a to do list as long as my arm but feel happier having it all written down so I can be organised and tick things off - I'm such a geek :D

Enjoy the last few weeks of planning and excitement. Sorry I've not replied to anyone else's posts but I just wanted to check in and say hi.
