    Hello all,

Can I please join this thread? We are getting married on November 5th 2011, its all a bit last minute, so I am stressing a bit reading about how organised you lot all are, but we are only having a tiny wedding and a big evening party, so there isn't that much to do (we'll see!)

    Thanks
  • Hi and welcome Danielley! Don't worry about what we've done -- concentrate on what you need to do! I find lists really help me -- I'm on my third draft so far! Good luck with your planning and let us know if you need any help!
  • Well I have a meeting with the wedding co-ordinator today and a list of questions as long as my arm to ask, poor chap's going to be sick of me! Got my final meeting with my florist on Tuesday to go through exactly what I want then my hen do is on Friday! My hair and makeup trial is Friday ( my sis is having hers done too ) hence why I picked that day for the hen party. I think there's 12 of us going, and I know we're going for a meal then something afterwards but thats all I know as my sis has organised it all. The theme for the night is flappers so I bought a lovely black beaded dress off ebay, need the accessories to go with it though so might pop out to get them tomorrow.

H2B has his first stag do last Sunday... paintballing. My GOSH you should have seen the state of him when he came back. They made him do a stag run and he's pretty much covered head to toe in bruises!

Got a meeting with the cake lady in a couple of weeks to discuss designs and flavours. Booked a car so thats sorted... no idea what else I need to do! Still waiting on a couple of people to get back to me for the daytime and waiting on loads for the evening. Need to finalise wedding vows and send them to the registrar, think they need that 6 weeks before the wedding but it's not a decision I want to rush so going to have a look at them a few times over the next couple of weeks and decide what we feel is right for us.

danielley - Welcome fellow bride to be! Good luck with all your preparations

Chrissy1981 - Your so organised! Your hen do's sound like they're going to be fun, I just hope your MOH doesn't take the spotlight off you

Bluespirit - How did the dress fittings go? What a nightmare about the invites! Maybe you could chase up the ones who haven't RSVP'd to make sure they got the invites?

scorpiokitten - The dress is just stunning, really has the wow factor. You sound as though your pretty much sorted!
Going to get to grips with food shopping again, starting February!

Got married to my lovely hubby on 12/11/2011 :D
  • Zimm190 – thanks for the compliment, glad you like my outfit. It sounds like you are getting yourself very organised, well done you! Did you get your invites reprinted ok? Have you got many back? Some of mine are still due back and the RSVP date on them is 12th Sept so think I will be chasing a few! Can’t believe how fast time is flying now!

losingpatience – that’s awesome that you got your wedding dress. And well done to getting down to a size 10! That’s really good. Did you get your evening invites out? Still plenty time if not. Mmm cupcakes, I LOVE cupcakes, what designs are you thinking of getting? What date is your hen do? I have heard that paintball is really bad for bruises, at least he didn’t do it the night before the wedding! Can you imagine the photos lol.

scorpiokitten – it looks like you are getting very organised as well, fab! Bet you can’t wait to go to Orlando. That’s great that you have someone there sorting the details out for you. Takes a little bit of strain off! Your shoes and jewellery are gorgeous! Really pretty.

Bluespirit – that’s good that your sister is coming to the wedding, I hope things get sorted between you. That’s a shame about the invites, I was worried about mine having the same problem but they must have been that tiny bit thinner. I’m sure no one will grudge you a quid :) Sounds like you are getting on well with everything.

Chrissy1981 – I hope the dress fitting went well. That’s great for your MOH that she is pregnant but I can totally see where you are coming from with the dress. I would have thought she would put a bit of money towards it as it is an inconvenience for you. I hope she won’t/didn’t announce her pregnancy at your hen night! I would never dream of doing that to the hen. Your goody bag for your OH sounds fun, I have thought about doing one but I don’t think I could put anything in it that OH would actually like. Apart from an Xbox360 game and then he would start playing it and be late for the wedding lol.

danielley - hello and welcome to the board :) I will add you to the list on page one. If you need any advice then this wedding board is great for it and you still have plenty of time to get organised. I’ve been planning for the last year because I didn’t have much else to do lol. But you will easily manage it in 2 months :)

Well I think I’m almost sorted with everything. Just some little things to do now like sending the legal wedding forms off (been told not to send them until end of Sept). I am now paying for a Spotify account on my phone (£10 a month) so that sorts the music out. We made playlists and thought we would need to buy/download all the tracks but Spotify means we don’t need to do any of that. It plays them like an ipod. My hen do is in 10 days time :D Apparently there have been emails flying about all over the place but I don’t know anything about it yet. I told them I don’t like ‘normal’ hen do’s like spending loads of money on a male stripper, limo etc and making me kiss guys for money (I have been on hen nights where the hen carried a bucket and kissed guys on the cheek for donations…) and drink tequila. I like to get drunk and party but can’t stand crazy shots. So my bridesmaids have their work cut out for them! I suspect it will be dinner, a ghost walk and then on to our favourite metal club. Can’t wait!

I’ve been doing other ‘prep’ like getting my tattoo done :D Still got 4 more hours work to get done on it but it will look cool. Also got my eyebrows put on semi-permanently. It’s a bit of a change as they are different to my drawn on ones but they look pretty natural.

I need to put hen night photos in my bridesmaid journals and some other photos in my parent journal then that’s the gifts sorted I think. Getting there! Almost all the RSVPs in but think I will need to do some chasing. 12th of Sept is the date I wanted them in by.

ALMOST ONLY 2 MONTHS TO GO!!!
  • Hi ladies - 9 weeks tomorrow for me! And I've got my first proper dress fitting where they'll be taking measurements and stuff! 2 out of the 3 bridemaids are coming tomorrow too. They all tried on their dresses last weekend and looked brilliant. Was really pleased that the dress bought for my sister fitted my friend who stepped in in her place!

Chrissy - I hope your dress fitting went well. Funnily enough I've been saying the same thing to people who're not replying but it hasn't had much effect yet! I can obviously really sympathise with you about the pregnant matron of honour. I think there must be something in pregnancy hormones that makes them not think about bridesmaid dress issues - thats yours, my sister, and my friend's sister too! My sister is still refusing to speak to me (which is proving to be difficult as I'm trying to organise a surprise for my mum's 60th birthday the wek before our wedding, and having to go through my other sister to speak to her!!). Hopefully your situation will work out better than mine! Your presents sound great. Who was the ebay seller you got the champagne glasses from as they sound lovely??

Danielley - welcome to the thread, and good luck with your planning. How are things going so far?

Losingpatience - at least there's plenty of time for the bruises to die down! My OH went to another stag doo in the summer where they did paintballing and he had some whoppers! They're gone now.

Enchantica - I'm sure your friends will organise you a 'you' hen doo! Are you staying in Edinburgh for it?

It's my OHs stag doo tomorrow. He's going down to Newcastle for the night. I've heard a few things - and they're apparently dressing him up as Dafyyd from Little Britain. I can just imagine him in the pink shorts! I really hope there are plenty of photos afterwards!! Part of their evening is being spent in a comedy club, so I'm sure they'll ahve a good few laughs at him.

We're still chasing RSVPs - its very frustrating when people say 'oh but I thought you knew we were coming'... but we'll get there hopefully! Want to get the evening invites out soon, but need to wait until we get more day replies as we might upgrade some people!

Its three weeks till my hen and there's been a bit of drama. I think I've said before we're going away to a lodge cabin for the weekend. My friend BM has apparently been trying to arrange some activities (though I have no idea what...), but my sister BM isn't being very helpful and doesn't want to do anything! I obviously don't know the full story, but OH has been trying to help sort things out and there have been some upset people. It's frustrating me as I just want everyone to get along and have a great weekend. Having said that, everyone got along fine last weekend at the ladies and kids afternoon so I don't think its a major issue anymore.

I've been working on presents for OH too. I've already paid for his kilt pin and cuflinks (which he knows about). I've sent off a card to his favourite football team, and asked them to sign it with best wishes to him for the day - hopefully if they do it the best man will read it out on the day. I've got us both matching Mr and Mrs T-shirts with our wedding date on them for the next day, and some underwear. His says property of "Mrs X..." and mine says "Mrs X". I still want to get some aftershave and maybe an engraved beer glass. My BMs are getting their jewellery, and might have a look at those Champagne glasses Chrissy mentioned. I've got all the kids involved a little laminated A4 poster with a lovely poem on them to thank them for being a special part of our wedding.

I think my flower girl is just as excited about the wedding as me! We tried her full outfit on last week and it was a battle getting it off. She just kept looking at herself in the mirror with it on from all angles with a huge smile! She's got a gorgeous ivory dress with sparkles, ivory shoes with a tiny little heel, jewellery to match the BMs and a sparkly hairband!

I'm getting my makeup trial next Saturday. Can't wait. I've timed it well too as I'm going to see Legally Blond that night, so should be looking all glam for that!

    Think that's all my news.

Anyway, had a quick catch up and you all sound super organised... I am doing the last minute panicking thing as working up to late Fri night!! Ahh well, so long as we have each other, something to wear and the rings .... eh, what more do we NEED lol!

  • Eeek, it's now less than eight weeks to go for me! Things are on track though.

Had first dress fitting last week, next is on Saturday. Dress is a shop sample so it's been hanging in my mum's wardrobe for over a year. The alterations place is also dry-cleaning it.
My MiL finished making my veil, which is amazing! I made the pattern and a template version and we cut out the real one together - she then took it away and sewed the lace trim and added pearls from her mother's necklace, which I wasn't expecting but it looks amazing and matches my dress! So very happy with that.
Had a wine tasting at the venue and chose wines.
Have started making playlist for during the meal and a list of songs for the band to play
Chose a new first dance song and booked lesson for us to learn a few moves (OH not keen on this but game anyway)
Knitted bride and groom cake topper - finished me, OH nearly done
Decided to make 11 hessian table runners. Bought 14 metres of hessian on Saturday and have made three so far. The first one took about three hours as I made it as a template but the next two went fast as got a routine going. Worked on them last night whilst watching Bride Wars - how on earth do films like this get made?!
    Ordered groomsmen's ties from Debenhams
    Bought wedding underwear and garter
Arranged for best man to collect sparklers (Bonfire Night wedding)
Hen is pretty much finalised after meeting with afternoon tea company
    Hair and makeup is booked
Arranged to go flowergirl and pageboy clothes shopping with stepmum
Almost chosen what gift to get OH
Attended second of six banns readings at church on Sunday
Made confetti cones out of paper doilies
Made CDs and covers for guests' photos
Collected one million conkers and pine cones for decorations
Made a start on table plan
    Printed 114 orders of service

Think that's it for now - phew! The main thing left that I need to get is something for my hair but just can't decide!

One of my BMs is worried about being cold in her dress - what's everyone else doing about this, if anything? The dresses are knee length and a thin material. They do have capped sleeves but they won't be very warm. I'd rather not cover up the dresses with a shrug or wrap but don't want my girls freezing! The dresses are teal green, not sure what colour wrap would go?

Hope all your plans are coming along ladies!

Thanks for dropping in neenaww and good luck for 2 weeks time!! We will be thinking of you! xxx
  • Good luck for your big day neenaww - hope everything goes well!

Zimm190 - my bridesmaids all have wraps in the colour of their dresses, but if you don't want to do that/can't get the colour, what about an ivory shrug or something? You could always tell them to take it for for the photos, but they could use it in between when they're outside. My birdesmaids (and me) are all wearing leggings under our dresses too for a bit of extra warmth, maybe they could wear shorts or something if the dresses are knee length?

I had my make up trial on Saturday and was really pleased with it. The make up lasted all day, and looked good when photos were taken, so that's another less thing to worry about now!

  • Hi everyone,

My dress fitting went well -- it fitted me *just*! They pinned up the length and luckily my mum noticed the bodice wrinkling at the back, where I'm short in the body so it was sitting too high, so they said they'd take out the sides a bit. Went back on Tuesday and the bodice is sorted fine but it was still too long! So I have to go back again. It felt a bit more comfortable where they'd taken out the sides a bit so I don't feel too much pressure to lose more weight! Was a bit gutted to not be able to take it home though. They showed my mum how to hook up my train onto one of the buttoms on the back. And how to do the buttons up -- me and my mum were both shocked cos it zips up and I thought the buttons were for decoration only! So I need to get a crochet hook and somehow show OH how to do it after the wedding??!

I bought my wedding night "attire"! Completely busted the budget in House of Fraser on a slinky ivory sheer lace chemise with a lace-up back and little splits on the thighs. Bridal but sexy!

Had my hen night last weekend! It went really well, although 2 pulled out just days before! They dressed me up with a veil, L plate, sash and feather boa and I really looked the part! Had a great time -- meal, karaoke bar then club. Was hanging the next day but well worth it! My MOH did mention her pregnancy to a couple of people but did it discreetly so that was fine. OH goes on his stag weekend tomorrow to Brighton for 2 nights. Have got lots planned to keep my occupied but I'm secretly looking forward to a couple of quiet days to myself!

Losing patience – how did your venue meeting and hen night go? Were you pleased with your hair and make up trial?

Enchantica – how was your hen night? Did you end up doing any crazy shots?! Sounds like you’re all sorted on the organisational front!

Bluespirit – how did your fitting go? I hope you’ve had some luck resolving the situation with your sister. The ebay seller for those glasses is kaz_pete4d30 and her shop is http://stores.ebay.co.uk/handpaintedglassngifts She was ace, I sent her a couple of photos with descriptions and names and I was really pleased with them. Can’t wait to give them out! Your presents sound really lovely. I got myself a Mrs X thong printed up and was planning on wearing it while travelling to the honeymoon but it’s come up a bit small and I don’t think I’ll be very comfy wearing that on a 12 hour flight so going to keep it in my bag and change at some point! (hope I don’t get searched...!)

Zimm – you sound mega organised!!! My BM’s are in a strapless dress of quite thick material and I hadn’t given them a second thought if they’d get cold. We’re getting married in the same place as the reception so they won’t have to go anywhere, only photos I guess. I’m thinking sheer adrenalin and nerves will keep us warm, then the beer jacket will come into play I’m sure!

Well, it’s 7 weeks tomorrow for me, getting butterflies almost every morning when I wake up! Someone said to me yesterday that the weather people are saying snow between October and February??! Not in November please, can’t handle the travel disruption!!
