Hi all, well, it's 5 weeks or is that :eek::eek: on Friday til the wedding, gulp! I finally got round to finishing the invites, however there is currently about 15 invites still to actually send between myself and OH, NEED to get them out this week as the reply by date is 21st Oct. Was at my uncle's 60th last Saturday and got a few verbal rsvp's (my family are quite cheap, ha) so at least I know the bus will be used. Some of the still to send invites are for the bus so I think I will just get a quote to hire one big enough incase everyone goes. We're 17 people over the recommended amount for the venue, thought we'd over-invite so if people didn't come, we didn't look like Billy and Belinda No-Mates
Some of the guys will no doubt frequent the bar so should be ok.
OH's stag do is in Newcastle at the end of October and I have my lodge weekend (just family) the week before the wedding, however we have just arranged to have me a Hag Nightwoo hoo! I work with loads of guys so instead of a Hen Night, it's a Hag (hen/stag) night, brilliant eh!
Got final fitting before alterations next Thursday and diet hasn't been good. Still trying, still gyming it but not lost anymore weight, just trying to maintain right now but if a few pounds could be lost that would be great.
Brilliant Hen-Do pics Enchantica, know some of the places you went too as well.
Still have name-cards to do, got OH's wedding ring yesterday then it's just the final checks for everything. Just want to get all the 'wedding' gumph put away now, sick of seeing the box of invite making stuff etc., although I have enjoyed making them all. Not long now folks :eek:0 -
Danielley - The bouquets we're having are red and cream roses. This is our general flower theme, but we're also having cheaper flowers in larger displays to keep the costs down. We're also renting a lovely tree with fairy lights for the reception venue as it goes in a place that needs a massive vase of flowers but this is much cheaper. If you're going for real flowers, definitely have a chat with the florist as mine was really helpful knowing what flowers would match what I like.
Swinstie - the hag night sounds like it will be good fun! I know what you mean about the numbers - we're slightly over just now for the evening, so are hoping people let us know soon if they're coming. Especially as we have a reserve list!! Hopefully the venue won't be counting everyone as they arrive!
Littlecat - you're hen doo will be lovely I'm sure. Don't worry about the ages - everyone is there for you and to make sure you have a good time, and as there's so many of you, I'm sure everyone will find people they get on with.
My hen weekend was amazing! I really can't believe how lucky I am to have the friends I do as I was so spoilt by everyone, and they'd put so much effort into it. Friday was a fairly quiet one, we got up to the lodge around lunchtime and had lunch in the nearby pub before a walk and a pint in a beer garden. The girls had bought up pizzas and stuff for dinner in the lodge, and we all just had a good gossip and played some games. They'd decorated the lodge with banners, pictures and balloons too.
On Saturday I was surprised with a trip to a chocolate factory and then a day at a spa, which included lunch and two treatments (massage and facial for me). It was in a lovely hotel and was really nice and relaxing. When we got back to the lodge they organised a treasure hunt for me where I got lots of little presents (such as big knickers, a bum pincher and a veil to wear out that night...) We went out for dinner and played man bingo - it was very funny as two of the girls kept running after strangers in the street to check if they were lifeguards, or single fathers, etc. Back at the lodge we did cocktails, karaoke and dancing!
Quite a few people had to go on Sunday, and we were all quite hungover so it was really chilled out. Late morning I got taken to a pottery painting shop, and spent a couple of peaceful hours painting a mini bride and groom, which now has pride of place in my living room! We had a takeaway at night with more cocktails and games. I can't believe how much my friends did!Getting married 12/11/2011

Hi guys wondered if you minded me joining your thread
Me & OH get married 5th nov and can't believe it coming so quick... though the date was only bookedthe wedding 13th sept
I felt so organised but now am in slight panic mode i think though excited too
So far the registry office, venue, dresses and flowers have been paid for. The buffet and DJ have been booked and need to be paid for. My ring has been resized (having his nans ring) his is to be picked up tomorrow (hoping it fits as he doesn't know I've got it for wedding).
Just panicking about decorations for reception...and had words about feeding people between registry office and evening reception as me & OH don't want a sit down meal.....:o:smileyhea:heart: Mrs Lea Nov 5th '11:smileyhea

Welcome kal25
Great to have you here. It sounds like you are nice and organised, well done you! That's lovely that you are having his nan's ring, very special. What kind of theme are you having? That will give us ideas for decorations.

Thanks Enchantica, I wish I felt I was organised lol not really got a them ...we just having lilac/purple and cream as our only theme.
There had been a few heated arguments in the first few days of organising tbh with my mumIt's not my first wedding and I felt I was pushed a lot with my first into having things I didn't want by my mum and my MIL2b. I think this time my mum feels she can have as much input as she likes ( I'll have no MIL as my OH mum not with us anymore
). However, I know I'm standing ground this time, after all the day in the end just about me & OH all the rest is inmaterial
The arguments were that I went wedding shopping with my witness/ best mate and ended up in wedding dress shp trying dresses on...mum upset cuz she thght I was buying my dress there and then. As it happened she came shopping 2 days later with me and the first dress I tried on was the one...I did try others...but this one was just amazing..it was off the peg..but had not long come in and noone else had even tried it on...so I got a brand new dress for £499 onstead of £599 and the lady gave me upto £60 for my daughters dress... so that saved me trying to sort that out
The 2nd argument that did get quite heated was about the buffet..we were planning on doing it ourselves and my mum assumed she could put on what she wanted as she and her OH were offering to pay for itAs it happens we ended up finding a company that is doing the buffet at not too bad a price...one less thing to worry about
How ever.....I've been told people will be expect to be fed between coming back from the wedding and reception... :huh:The wedding is at 2.30pm (registry office so about half hr?) it's half hour away from the reception venue... So that takes us to at least 3.30pm without times for delays and photos...reception starts 7.30 and thght could open buffet around 8-8.30. Me & OH are adamant we don't want a sit down meal...I knew my mum would want us to have one which was why we tried to get the latest wedding available...unfortunatley not as late as we hoped lol (not being tight but the sit down meals to me are expensive).
How do I get round this? don't want to starve people but I don't wanna spend a fortune on feeding them to tie them over til eveining. any suggestions? or am I just being mean??:smileyhea:heart: Mrs Lea Nov 5th '11:smileyhea

Hi All
Special hi to Kal25  we are wedding twins! Like you we only booked our wedding a short time ago and there have been problems from family, but you will get through it.
I dont know what to suggest about the meal... we had the issue that we couldn't afford a sit down meal for everyone, so we limited our numbers to just 12 people in the day (parents, siblings and us) and we will be paying for a meal for the 12 people, then in the evening we will be inviting all the rest of our family and friends and having a buffet.
Have you sent your invitations out yet? I'm sure if you let people know about the food situation it wont be a problem, people will just be happy to share the day with you.
I got my dress yesterday! :j I wasn't going to get a formal wedding dress, but after trawling the web and high street for something from the high street, I just couldn't find anything 'bridal' enough so I have gone for a strapless Sacha James gown. I'm just starting to worry about underwear now, so I am going to post on the main forum for ideas.
My OH got his suit from M&S at the weekend; we got a real bargain so he was able to get some really nice shoes from Dune.
Hope you are all ok and your plans are going well.0 -

However, I am glad i've not just bowed to what everyone else wants this time...but then I know I'm no where near stressed as I was furst time round...and think that because whats important is that me & OH getting married everthing else is just cosmetic and celebratory
I'm off to go get my underwear today danielley as I need it for my fitting that I still need to book lol ..Am so excited though it unreal I picked up his ring yesterday and was just like a kid in a sweet shop :rotfl:. Hope everyone else plans are coming along well...:):smileyhea:heart: Mrs Lea Nov 5th '11:smileyhea

Losing patience I did figure after that we may need something... but really we figured we'd be better off with something different to sandwiches as they will be having buffet later on.:smileyhea:heart: Mrs Lea Nov 5th '11
