Has anyone here picked a date when you will turn the heating on? I know this sounds odd but i usually plan the day in advance regardless of the weather!

I had planned on switching it on at the turn of the month (October) but our local weather report is saying temps dropping to near freezing by the weekend, so we'll need to put it on earlier than that to avoid burst pipes (been there, got the t-shirt).

We were going to go see Ted, as we've seen the trailer and it looks hilarious, but someone told us that they enjoyed it, but by far the funniest bits were in the trailer. Kinda puts me off a bit.

Granny - do you have, or know anyone, with an Orange phone? Get an Orange Wednesday 2-for-1 code, go with a friend, and share the cost of the one ticket that you'd need to pay for. Take your own treats and a bottle of water in your bag. :)

Up until this year PC and I never turned on the heating before October 1st. But this autumn I gave in on 30th August - just for an hour or two at the most to take the chill off, and I've done it roughly every other night since then.
But it's colder here out in the sticks than it is in London, and I've got a good deal with my energy suppliers, and this house is very well insulated so it doesn't take much to bring up the temperature in the evening..

Whether you can justify turning on the heating at your place yet, only you can say.. ;)

I was thinking maybe the 30th of October but that might be a bit ambitious!

  • I confess to having put mine on last week and it has stayed on since.

Normally I would have waited until mid-October, but It's been a very chilly September in Scotland x.

Oh no! How awful, did they really just drive off and leave it? That's despicable. Is there a lot of damage?

How awful re car, lets hope karma pays them a visit.

Think I will see if I can dredge up a friend from somewhere to come and see Ted with me. OH has Orange phone.

Think I'll plan to put my heating on when it gets so cold I can't feel my toes, that'll be today then :rotfl:

Didn't put it on as only me I house and suffering for it now. Really cold so can't sleep, hence why I'm on here at gone midnight on a school night x
