I seem to recall that you work for a huge corporation, were the 1300 world-wide or in the UK?

I remember watching the rounds of redundancies, even when it isn't you, it hits very hard. It sucks all the life out of the workplace.

    Thinking of you NL

I do work for a huge company, we have lost around 5% of the workforce every year for the last 3 years.
Dodged the bullet this time but the whole thing makes me incredibly sad.
There are so many good people in the UK who want to work, who deserve to work, and are in very reduced circumstances and it is awful.

    Sending hugs to all

Well joy for you being safe but hugs for feeling sad. My office has lost a number of people through voluntary exit over the last year or so and some of the people I was closest to have gone. It's hard for those of us left behind and as you said hard for those forced into that situation

  • I have read through the pages with interest because of the large sums of money involved - did you ever find out where the missing £5,000 goes that your SOA states you have left over every month? Sums like that just can not disappear surely. Unless you have a robber in your midst!!

Was just thinking about you and realised I'd forgot to ask whether Mrs Malaprop survived the cuts. I hope so x

  • Six months into my job here, we had to lose half the company (which at the time was 12 people redundant, so not massive, but still 50% of the entire company that was more like a family). The decision was based on my first big report on the accounts after taking over, so it was my bad news that forced the decision. I had terrible survivors guilt for a long time afterwards.

Thankfully now, we're in massive expansion, and are about to increase our headcount to around 80 people (having increased our size progressively over the last 5 years, but doubled to 70-odd at the beginning of this year).

It's a horrible situation and one I hope I never have to experience ever again, from either side!

{hugs} for you. And fingers crossed for Ms Malaprop, who I've been thinking was rather quiet lately!

Hello my lovely. So glad she survived, even if just to give us all some giggles now again.

Was just thinking about you and your experience with the epilator having read the posts today on Piqs diary and you thought the epliator was bad. :rotfl:

It might cheer you up somewhat! I still keep laughing at the thought of the reviews.....

I do hope you feel a little better about it today. I know how horrid it is. Work friends are like family.
