Oh Lordy, wish I'd never wondered out loud about the car - NewLeaf's OH is clearly attached to it despite the high cost and low usage.

Given the fantabulous amount NL & OH are paying towards THEM plus other debts, I say if OH wants the car as her 'indulgence' that's fine - it just means their DFD is a bit further away, and presumably OH is cutting back in other directions; spa days, expensive beauty treatments and other frivolous spends don't seem to feature much in NL's life, do they?

Still, one last attempt at persuasion might be to suggest renting out the parking space when the Golf has gone - I know several Londoners who do pretty well out of that.

ETA: Car can also be considered a 'last ditch fund' if THEY suddenly demand full and final payment, of course..

    Hi All,

    Good ideas here all. :)

So Robin your post about OH cutting back made me die laughing. OH in a nutshell:
    1. doesn't wear makeup
    2. doesnt wear perfume
    3. no jewellery except a bezel set diamond
    4. no watch
    5. no perfume

and for last and least OH who is almost 50 have never shaved, waxed, plucked or threaded any part of her body ever. I mean never. No part. From head to foot.

She considers it a personal affront if she has to pay more than £10 for a haircut.

When we got together, she had furniture made from crates in her flat. I dubbed her syle "Early Dormitory"

So not too much cutting to be done there
