I have scanned the letters and emailed them to accountant. He said he will review today. I have called them and asked them to explain the code. I advised them that I no longer had the fuel card or car. They said they will review this and that my company has to advise them of this? So back to the accountant. Not making great strides F&W but am trying

Go poke your company pay roll dept. Or better idea find a fairly senior member of said department, provide coffee and if necessary promise or hint at HM cakes being in the offing explain your tale of woe (well the relevant bits e.g. notifications needed for update on the benefits ASAP). Don't forget if they perform provide actual cake not threat of cake.

Worked for me as I was in need of document and worked out the weakness in the dept was chocolate ....

Make that accountant earn their money! But keep on the case as you only have a few days left.

Did you get anywhere with the pre-paid USD card?

Happy to buy/make cake as needed.

No one in US interested in changing the visa card as it is stamped with my name on it.

  • Not forgetting this debate came about because NL wanted to change a DD to a SO :D

In one of my deleted posts, i stated one of the difficulties i was having myself, with regard to DD's.

I had a DD set up with a supplier. A fixed contract and a fixed monthly payment, (actually, it's more accurate to say a fixed amount.)

Over the course of more than a year, they never took the correct monthly payment. They took more than double, sometimes 3 times, the " fixed" payment, every month, ( which you can with DD.)

Which then resulted in numerous monthly phone calls, not to mention the time and grief, of reclaiming YOUR money, which then takes months for the company to reimburse.

Needless to say, i eventually cancelled said DD, which i refuse to reinstate.

Which now results in, what could be mildy called, monthly " blackmail."

Along the lines of, " if you don't have a DD set up on your account, we can / will, cancel your service at any time."

I make sure i pay my bill well in advance, ( two weeks in advance,) although, obviously, they now have my card on file, as i use it every month to pay, i haven't given them the authority to take monthly payments from my card.

As a consumer, i don't know what my rights are. CAN i refuse to set up a DD? ( which obviously, i have,) is the recipient justified in stating you can only pay by DD? You have to have a DD? No, you can't set up a SO?

The obvious. I don't want to change my supplier. I've had an account for more than 10 years, and i'm more than happy with the amount i should be paying. But as a company, they make so many unnecessary mistakes.

After some searching, i still can't find the answer to consumer rights in the CHOICE of SO v DD, debate.

I suspect that if the consumer had no rights, some banking bod, would have been along, by now. :rotfl:

Sorry to carry this on a while day later but tried to reply this morning and my laptop powered down and did not have time before work to switch it back on.

Companies have to offer an alternative to DD and SO because some people do not have a bank account. Some of my clients have only a Post Office account (benefits only) and some that do have bank accounts are not allowed DD and SO.

Companies have to offer you an alternative which of course is usually cash which sometimes incurs a fee plus of course some companies (such as Sky, BT & Virgin) charge a fee for not paying by DD - surely this is discrimination as not everyone has a bank account.

I bet if NL had told THEM she had a basic account with no facility for DD or SO they would have let her pay cash.

Well at least you are asking the questions New Leaf and not burying your head in the sand... I absolutely hate talking to the tax office... no offence to anyone who works there... but they tell you one thing and someone tells you another and by the end of about four phone calls you are no further forward and it costs you a shed load of money for the privilege.... x:)
