Need I remind you to keep the posting on topic ie R&R, not tesco's sick policy.

If you want to discuss sickpay or other tesco bashing/bigging please take it to the pub (MSE Arms).

In case you're new to the thread the mods have threatened on several occasions to lock tesco threads and have actually done so (and it was the longest 18 hours for many people!!)

When people have mortgages and families, debts to pay and they need to eat they need a job to pay for this. When all the local grocers, butchers, bakers (and now non-food retail) has been closed down by a supermarkets predatory and anti-competitive practices then they have no choice but to work for the very thing thats ruining their lives.

I work in one of the biggest stores in the country, we have not one butcher, baker or greengrocer that has lost their job due to a supermarket opening.

Are you seriously saying that all these people supposedly put out of work by the evil that is Tesco (the countries biggest public sector employer btw) now work for them and could find nothing else. Misguided once again.

Do you think it will make it to the history books "The longest 18 hours" it looks like a major headline really.

it would seem that ANY sort of establishment is not very much liked by the poster of the comments you mention!!

  • No Clasics - i work for another large company, and can't see the point of change for the sake of it.

BUT, if i needed another job, I'd apply for one there without hesitation.

I think for some there is absolutely no doubt about it employment by Tesco can be an excellent career move or for that matter career, it's the same as any other large organisation in that respect with it's up's and downs for some yes very rewarding both financially and emotionally. I really don't think that a suitable topic for this thread or to be holding present posters accountable for any shortcomings other than those they are responsible for just because they are open enough to divulge they work for the very company we are all exploiting here.

Let's get back to topic and most importantly perspective, how about the annuals or boardgames deals who has thoughts on those perhaps?

How's things going on the Asda front classics? (I spelt your name correctly on purpose by the way)

(off topic but blame Ben500!) Had a very nice chat with the manager of my local store on Friday, Ben. He had been instructed to ring me as a result of my formal complaint to HO regarding the attitude of asda's CS staff when the thorny question of the £2 giftcard for an overcharge is mentioned. You may recall I have now been back to CS desk twice in the last couple of weeks. First time the CS bod denied the existence of giftcards until I mentioned I had read about their existence on their website. Result: one £2 giftcard handed over by previoulsy pleasant CS bod with what now resembled a face like a slapped @rse.

Second occasion was last week and the reason for my formal complaint to HO. Got overcharged on 2 Original Source Lemon and Lime Shower Gels (smell lovely, btw) Sticker on both stating 2 for £3. Sure enough, got charged 2x £1.97 and no discount. The (different) CS bod, after being asked for the £2 giftcard, told me she wasn't obliged to give me one (giftcard, I hope) as I 'hadn't left the shop before realising the error' and she 'was correcting the error whilst I was in the shop so no obligation to give me a giftcard' When I laughed and asked her to get the manager down for verification of this, she went very red and said that whilst she said she was under no obligation to give me a giftcard, that didn't necessarily mean I wasn't going to get one. Seriously, you just couldn't make it up, could you? Obviously, I got the giftcard but, seriously, exactly waht percentage of 'normal' (I use the word advisably) shoppers would have walked out of there with a giftcard? Anyway, full apology from Head Honcho at the store and a promise to personally sort out any other CS problem I encounter in the future (I have to ask for him by name). Par for course for supermarkets, it seems. Happy to proudly print their whiter than white policies but get very sniffy when some crazy shopper actually takes them up on the offer.
I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!

Just catching up on todays posts..

I'd just like to say that the trolls on here are like erections - they wont go away if you dont stop playing with them!

Just had one of the best dinners I've had in a long time! £18.55 worth of R&R beef fillet roast and boy was it nice! I even shared it with the cat (dont see any reason not to share with him!)

Got some more packs of peanuts today (seeing as there wasnt much else on offer) I have to say I think this is one of the worst types of misprice - Just charging more because the pack has 20% extra "free" on it, even the CS girl tried saying "oh no, its the 300g packs that are 94p the one you have is 360g and there is no SEL for that!" - yes luv, its only 360g because of the free bit!

And I hate the way their answer is just to remove the correct SEL then just continue to overcharge everyone else that buys them
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)

    Sorry Ben...gotta blame someone.

We're always telling newbies and the like not to let the Tesco CS assistant out of your site while she goes hunting for the offending Sel.....but I never thought it could happen to me......especially in Asda.

Amongst other things today...we bought 2 asda boil in the bag rice...93p each...but 2 for £1.50

After going through the tills the discount didnt come off,

Went to CS who went to find sel.

Came back with 2 for £2 sel.......(which didnt make sense, and she joked about it).

I went to look and she told me thats where the 2 for £2 sel was.

    I was dumbfounded.

I dont make mistakes like that....

I just had to accept what she said...but will be looking for same sel in other stores with the possibility of taking further action.

Didnt think this sel replacing happenned in others stores apart from Tesco's.
    Couponing....."every little hurts"

But all the people can't be all right all the time. .........I think Abraham Lincoln said that.
