    my tuppence worth.

Trolls are abound once again. The regular posters know very well what, if any, input REAL tesco employees make to this thread (albeit that they are not speaking on behalf of tesco, simply from experience of working there).

Do we not think that there is enough bickering already without fuelling the fire by answering someone who is either very very stupid and dead set on losing their job (senior team my ar*e)??

The comments made regarding bean stackers and minimum wages are very insulting to the real employees (none of whom are actual bean stackers, they come in ready stacked! - and none of whom are on the minimum wage) so even if you do hold this opinion, please keep it to yourself.

To tescoemployee.....please be quiet, you are helping neither yourself nor the company you claim to represent. Your comments are infantile as well as more than a little silly.

Please contribute constructively as most people on here do. If you do have an issue with people claiming so called R&R, take it to the ethics thread here... http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=275997 or http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=274398 here.

I appologise to all decent Tesco employees for my insulting remarks but they were aimed at TESCO EMPLOYEE. I do know there is a culture in Tescos that middle management / senior team should almost totally commit to the Company in the belief that they may obtain promotion. So they stay behind for free to help "TESCO" out. This is mirrored by TESCO EMPLOYEE who felt she had to go back to his / her work in their own time for free. I personally do not understand this culture and do not understand why Tesco do not pay them over time to do their jobs properly (or employ more staff). Believe this affects the profits. So they may work over 60 hrs per week and only get paid for approx 39.

By the way, it was Tesco R and R soup of course - delicious!!

    Dear Redfox....

On page 1 of this thread, you say "This is a new thread for any discussions on the Tesco policy regarding misprices...."

Clearly the childish ranting of the past few pages stifles sensible mature discussion and exchanges of opinion.....

Would you be so good as to "edit" the unnecessary posts out, and consider advising those children ... .who by now should hopefully be getting ready for bedtime.... with Sunday bathtime!!!

If the caps fits... wear it....!!.... . if you want to have childish banter... try PM..ing.... or go to MSN !!!

    Thank you & Take Care

Tesco pays £6 per hour, what would you call that if not minimum wage? That is the bottom 10% of all (non-manual) pay in the country.

Coupled with the lack of sick-days if you are ill, and the 'extra' (unpaid) hours that are expected of staff and I think the pay is actually far lower than the minumum.

    freedom of speech ;)

not breaking any laws...just passing out information which is legal

Try looking into the censorship laws this government have passed curtailing peoples freedom to protest.

If you protest within a million miles of a corporation (or parliment sq.) you can be up on harrasment charges..

Trespass can also be a criminal matter in some such cases.

The filth quite often use 'threat of violence' too, when no such threat exists.

I go one further, I have a card I hand out to others in the store whilst pointing out they are about to buy a mispriced product, the card direct's them here and the rest is history. The amount of cards I hand out generally depending on the response I receive at c/s;)

I get the cards printed free of course with postage costs only so a mere few pennies a card if you like.

There are different levels of National Minimum Wage, depending on the age of the worker. The rates from 1 October 2006 are as follows:
    • adults (which means people aged 22 and over) receive the full rate of £5.35 an hour (previously £5.05)
    • a ‘development rate’ of £4.45 an hour is paid to workers aged 18 to 21 inclusive
    • young people (those older than school leaving age and younger than 18, you're under school leaving age until the end of summer term of the school year in which you turn 16) receive £3.30 an hour
Apprentices under the age of 19 are not entitled to the National Minimum Wage. Apprentices who are 19 or over and in the first 12 months of their apprenticeship are not entitled to the National Minimum Wage.

    Tesco Working week = 36.5hrs

Using your figure of £6 p/hr = difference 65p per hour = £23.72 per week difference (£94.90 per 4 weeks)

Dont know or care what wages you earn but ask anyone really on minimum wage if they want a £94 per month pay rise and i bet you wont find one to say no.

Coupled with a minimum of 20 sick days per year and no expected unpaid hours i think that you need to review your findings. No matter what anybody says, no general assistant is expected to work without pay.
