Just been refused the R&R on my L6 mobile. SEL said £69.99 but the massive sign above my head said 10% off all Pay as you go mobiles. They offered me to take the 10%, happily just took my receipt back and said "I'll be back, after work" So they have admitted they have overcharged me by 10% but wont give me the R&R as I'm entitled to. SO I'm not printing off all the details of the £1b profit in 6 months to go back in with and say "no wonder you make this much money!!!"We took on Mr T and we won:D
Shame it had to end, will have to get free stuff from comps now :beer:0 -
ma6jrp wrote:The phone one is a bit hard to prove you have been overcharged. The store I just went in had two phones with white SELs a Nokia 3230 (or something) on T-Mobile for £49.99 and a Virgin L6 for £69.99. The Virgin L6 was right next to the Voda L6 which was reduced and started at the same price. So clearly the virgin L6 hadn't been reduced. But sometimes the same phone on different networks have different prices.
Without having a record of what they were charging last week you can't prove that you have been overcharged. The leaflet with the phone says the discount has already come off and no further discount applies. By quering the white vs. yellow SELs you have to let on more than you should know. I am sure these phones don't have the discount taken off, but you just can't prove it! I decided not to try this one.
Once when arguing about being overcharged on a DVD player the CS desk actually pulled up the price history of the item and proved to me that when I bought it the price I was charged was actually correct. Perhaps a member of staff could confirm if this is still possible. I would suggest that you call TS and ask them to contact the store, too often we forget that overcharging or displaying misleading price information is illegal.0 -

Have I wasted my time? Or should I complain directly to Cheshunt, if need be in the future?
No wonder the guy yesterday, was quick to offer me the tele: number and was so sure of himself.
A wasted call then I take it. I did try to ring the actual store this morning but was paying for the call and was just hanging on for someone to answer, so gave up.
If the store wasn't out of my way, I'd go back just to have anothe moan now I know he was fibbing!

I would say it is definitely worth complaining, but if they say that you must first complain to the Store Manager, I would note on the letter that you are also sending a copy of your complaint to Head Office. It can't get 'lost' that way :rolleyes:0 -
Hey there guys,
I was in Tesco last night and perhaps have seen something of interest and wondered if you could confirm that a pricing error would occur..
Basically they still have the xbox promotion posters up, with the game of the week as 'The Godfather', the date on this offer was for the week commencing 29/9/06, however the SELs for all the games including 'The Godfather' are white. I was just wondering if anyone would know if the discount would come off of this purchase or not..
Just a week ago thanks to this forum I managed to get myself a Nintendo DS & Brain Training R&R'ed, so I also registered to thank you for that tip!0 -
LilacLillie wrote:Well I called HO and they said the store is NOT exempt from the policy.
I said 'So the guy lied to me then?'
'Yep' says he, 'It looks like it. I'll get in touch with the store and express your concerns.
A member of Tesco staff lying to a customer about R+R policy? I can't believe they'd do that. I'm shocked.0 -
I must be getting too familiar in my local Tesco's.
Knocked me back on the Mr Kiplin cakes, 2 for £2, the discount didnt come off. I had 2 different ones, the CS lady said they had to both be the same kind. So I took a refund and no cake.
Better for my diet I suppose, and all my vouchers have expired and the till lady noticed that and threw they away for me......Not such a good day, for moneysaving, I will have to eat something from the freezer to cheer my self up...Amazon Sellers Club Member Number 52

Just for the record, the Motorola L6 on the Virgin network has NOT been on sale at more than £69.99 in the last 28 days.
If any staff tell you that £69.99 is the price after the 10% reduction, they are either mistaken or lying. If you purchase the Motorola L6 on Virgin and they charge you £69.99, and the store is displaying "10% off all Pay As You Go Phones" POS, you are definitely entitled to a full R+R on the phone as they have failed to deduct the widely advertised discount of 10%.
It's not up to the customer to prove that the phone wasn't on sale at a higher price (how can a negative be proved anyway?). By law, the store have got to prove to you that it was on sale at a higher price. And they won't be able to do that, because it wasn't. Unless they lie.0 -
Cheers TaxiPhil. I'm going armed with my receipt from when I got my last mobile from Tesco's which shows I was over charged then and stupidly I told them before I paid. That was before I realised what this was all about. Will say, "look everytime I buy a phone from here you over charge me, last time I let it go, this time I want my money back!!"We took on Mr T and we won:D

Thanks Taxi for this. I smelt a rat right away on this one. Its the other that is now causing the most prob. They are still maintaining I already received the discount on a phone whose only price label was a white one saying 44.97 (It should have been yellow and have said 57.97 reduced to 44.97). I maintain I was mislead into thinking I would get 10% off 44.97. Was I wrong?0 -
Well have just got back from an hours trawl round Tescos, on my first R & R expedition, (I tell you I will never look at a SEL in the same way again!)
And found absolutely nothing, well a couple of maybes but I was too scared to try it out, there was a row of printers for 34.97 and one ticket said 24.97 but there was loads of the right price tickets around it and the other one I saw was dole fruit pots reduced from 1.99 to 1.40 and the yellow SEL ended on 14th of september, so I bought a couple thinking they would scan in at 1.99 but they didn't! Didn't have the heart to say that I didn't want them at the till! I think I must be rubbish at this R & R lark...0
