2 tins of mushy peas, 1 tin of chopped tomatoes, 1 tin of baked beans, Onion – chopped, Garlic, Mushrooms – sliced, Curry powder
Fry onion & garlic in fry light, then add mushrooms. When cooked, add mushy peas, baked beans , chopped tomatoes and curry powder to taste. Heat through and serve. It sounds horrible but it is surprisingly yummy!
Have to be honest, I tried making this a few weeks ago and didn't like it. The smell put me off more than anything, it all went in the bin.0 -
Genuine question so apologies if this sounds snarky, but is thinspiration a mainstream, ok-to-use word now?
It's a word I associate strongly with pro-anorexia forums, used by anorexics spurring each other on to lose more and more weight. It's the sort of term I would seriously not want to google for fear of the things I might see.0 -
If we have half a tin of mushy peas left over from a meal I use them in a vegetable risotto where you fry the risotto rice along with some chopped garlic for a few minutes, add some frozen mixed vegetables, vegetable stock and the mushy peas which I find give some depth to the recipe. Simmer until rice is cooked, stirring occasionally to prevent rice sticking. As I am not dieting I then add a knob of butter, a touch of cream and some parmesan cheese and stir through the risotto and cook for a few minutes. This is a quick to prepare economical meal which if you were not vegetarian you could add some chopped cooked bacon, ham or cooked chicken when you add the butter, cream and cheese at the end.0

I am still working my way through the 'mushy pea mountain' from last year when all the big four supermarkets went loopy and started to try and out-bid each other in seeing how cheap they could get their tins of mushy peas down to. I ended up with a large stash of tinned mushy peas at 3p a tin !!!! Very nice they are as well.I have 'souped' them and 'curried' them and just used them with eggs 'n' chips and with fish. Also chucked half a tin with cheese on top of jacket spuds
:):) Thanks 'big four' you helped my budgetting greatly
:):)
I also passed lots on to my friends who aren't as mobile as I am to use in the winter when they couldn't get out to the shops:):)

Its a slimming world curry. Im not a fan of slimming world although I know it works for some people, its very carb heavy and people are encouraged to have syns, basically small quantities of what made them heavy in the first place, Ive looked at some people's diaries online, I wouldnt lose weight on all those carbs. They encourage people to eat fruit and veg, slimming world, but its not for me.0
