So do I but when these items were priced that way at that time would that be seen as cheap then or as expensive going by the economy at the time?"A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

I read about these peas last night on here and went and got 6 tins today. My OH was incredulous when he saw it was 24p for the lot of them. Think I'm going to look into making a pea and ham soup for work on Monday. Just need to get a recipe.2015 Wins

For Pea and Ham soup I pressure cook 500grms of cooking bacon bits, 75p, I then take out most of the bacon just chopping a few bits to go back into soup, add a tin or two depending on how much soup you want to make, i live alone so usually only use one tin, add a small potato and loads of black pepper.
The bacon is is portioned up and frozen for meals later.
This soup is my favourte lunch and supper dish at the moment.Slimming World at target0 -

they are up to 12p in my local Tesco too.
Slimming World swear by them. They have a recipe to use them when making a curry. 2 tins of mushy peas and 2 tins of tomatoes. Stick them in a blender and add curry powder to taste. Voila. Instant curry sauce. Add frozen peas and heat and then add in your meat and veg.
I tried it and it is very tasty.0 -

If it's any consolation I went rummaging for them here and they're 30c/24p on special.0 -

Hope I am in right place, I am currently on the slimming world plan and decided to give mushy pea's a whirl tonight, with egg, goodish thick cut chips for a treat (none fried)
1. Because a tin of mushy pea's can be cheap.. (ah ha!)
2. Because it's a slimming world 'speed food'..
3. I live on my own and there is no way I'm eating a whole tin, even if I can, while I hate to see wasted food..
so I'm looking for inspiration for my next meal.. do you think pasta with these pea's would mix? only cause I remember a martin recipe from Thrifty ways for modern days book that used to go down well of baked beans, pasta and grated cheese on top so thinking along these lines..:)

I couldn't eat mushy peas with egg to be honest. It would have to be fish or fishcake.
The would keep in the fridge a few days so don't feel pressured to eat them for your next meal.
Im looking forward to seeing any other ways with them to be honest.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0
