I keep reading about the 4p mushy peas, but am wondering, apart from the side of fish n chips, what else can be done with them?
Love the idea of a pea and ham soup, but not sure of how to do it.
(I actually dislike the taste of mushy peas, but for 4p a tin, I'm willing to try some variations, hopefully whatever you add to them will make them taste not quite so like mushy peas!!!)
I did have a search, but couldn't find anything specifically for mushy peas, but please do merge if I missed something.
Looking forward to the replies... Emma0 -

I make a soup with fried down bacon and onion, tinned peas (sometimes some tinned sweetcorn to give a bit more flavour or whatever bits of veg I have) and veg stock with seasoning. I tend to stir through a teaspoon or so of mint sauce to give it a bit more flavour. Sometimes I add a few herbs. I don't "do" recipes, but this always goes down well0

There are two recipes that I use
A couple of vegetable stock cubes, 1.5L water 2 tins of mushy peas and mint sauce .......make the stock cubes up with 1.5L boiling water and add the peas and mint sauce, cook gently for approx 15 mins then blend in a blender or use a hand blender and top with some crispy fried onions.
A couple of chicken or veg stock cubes plus 1.5L water, 2 tins mushy peas, crispy streaky bacon and fried onions
Make as above then fry the crispy bacon and onions and add just before you serve up. It is lovely with garlic breadBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
