No meepster, you're probably not. But you're not an 11 year old boy, are you?

    My point exactly...
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

I find that very shocking tbh. I'm at a loss to know what to suggest next but I'd be VERY unhappy at letting this go. I'd be the annoying thorn in their side until I felt I'd been treated fairly.

Shame them in the press if you can get the media interested in a 'bleeding heart' type story.

    Scan ebay

Check with apple, doesn't an ipod have to be synced with a computer?

I'll check that out dave. I thought you could unlock them though, like you can with mobile phones?

Yes, of course my grandson was negligent in the first place, but he's 11 years old and we all know what 11 year old boys are like when it comes to paying attention to what they are supposed to be doing:)!! His dad didn't even realise the kid had the ipod with him till he got home and the lad realised he'd left it in the store.

Then we are left with the police investigation of the 'woman' who stolte the iPOd. Hope this goes well

It's a very simple process to change what pc the device syncs with. Few mouse clicks and it's done.

I would now get legal advice. JJB will have no choice if they have a legal claim against them.

I would seek legal advice asap as the CCTV can get re-recorded over quite quickly. Have you tried requesting a copy of the CCTV recording?

Couldn't agree more meepster. It's mad giving a kid like that an ipod worth £150...but that's the way of the world now, isn't it? Kids getting their bikes nicked when they leave them outside shops, or expensive mobile phones stolen from them. And that starts of a whole new issue - kids today get far too much, etc., and dont appreciate/look after things properly.

Trouble is, when all their mates have those things - or the latest trainers or whatever, my son, like most parents, has fallen into the trap of not wanting his kids to be left out, so he works all the hours God sends to provide all the material comforts he thinks are essential for his kids in order for them to be happy.

It is ridiculous. We lost sight of making do with what we had over 40 years ago, sadly.

Im going OT here (sorry OP!) but why the heck should I make my kids "make do". We have a good family income, we can afford to treat our kids. I'm sick of hearing the argument about how kids want what the other kids have. Kids need to learn that sometimes other kids have things they can't. I'm not going to deprive my children of an ipod because little Jimmy might get jealous. We work damned hard for the money we have and will spend it how we see fit, if that is by treating our kids to something then so be it.

As for your comment that kids dont look after things, please don't tar all children with the same brush. My children have had ipods and phones for years without managing to lose or damage them. They fully appreciate what they have and take care of it.

    /end rant.

But JJB have not been negligent?

The point is the Police, and OP should go to the police and let them investigate, but alas it is the negligence of the son in the first instance that may be hinders the case. Next time more care should be taken of V&A objects

( I recall mentioning a few years back about an Easter Egg being found and the discussions around that in the parish)
