    Just seen this thread!!

Like OP we are looking at moving to Norfolk, and we like the look of Wymondham. South of the city, good schools, closer enough to Norwich (train station)...

Anyone got any other areas in and around Wymondham that they can recc?? (Although OH likes the North side - more Value for money, is this true??)

    Thanks RML

Agreed - we go to Sheringham a lot. That particular town is not that great, but there's wonderful countryside around.

Personally, if I could persuade my wife, I'd retire to Blakeney tomorrow. Nearly bought a house there a while back.

Salthouse, Blakeney, and Cley are lovely, as is Little Walsingham, although more Northerly. :)

And, now that the entire contents of Chelsea have decided to have their second homes there, horrendously expensive.

East Anglia is nice, although the rural areas can be quite isolated - long drives for hospitals, schools, major shopping and so on. Ipswich should be avoided.

    Very true.

Places like Sheringham were very cheap, but that stopped after a property article in the Daily Mail which left local estate agents besieged by yuppies.

Sheringham Cromer - that end of the North Coast of Norfolk - are really not that expensive

Wymondham has no problems that I'm aware of, except a large amount of house building in the last 30 years (if you call that a problem).

Much of the north side, particularly the Broads villages, are more expensive than the south side; also much in demand, and decent properties still sell very quickly. As previously mentioned in this thread, Diss is worth a look - railway station there. The road from the south side into Norwich during rush hour is horrendous, ever since some plonker bunged a bus lane down the main route into the city, halving an already busy road's capacity.

Oh, and seem to recall that Hethersett has good schools.
