    Redux - THANK YOU :kisses3: :D :T

Now then, allow me to be your webmaster and I shall solve your problems :D

    Assuming you use Internet Explorer...

In internet explorer go to Tools > Internet Options as shown below:

Now click on the Advanced Tab and scroll down to HTTP 1.1 settings and tick the box to look like this:

*ATTENTION* If you are at work, you'll probably be using a PROXY so in that case tick the other box as well saying "USE HTTP 1.1 THROUGH PROXY CONNECTIONS"

Now, press CTRL and F5 or just close internet explorer and restart.

If it works, herald me as your king :D:D:D If not, then :p
Yes, MSE Neil says that on one of those threads

But in fact just ticking the box is not enough, as I found the proxy one was off again the next day. Even clicking OK at the bottom is not sufficient; click Apply which will be enabled when ticking, then click OK

but it still happens occasionally ...

    Crabster :)

P.S: I still don't see why this site is the only one that played up. nelly's place works fine all the time :D :T

Wow I remember making a similar post - and wait arent those my screenshots which I uploaded?

Ultimately whilst you fixed your problem this isnt the ideal solution - and today I will hopefully install a 'global' solution if that works then great. The reason this site 'plays' up is we have been using gzip to shrink the pages - your proxy / isp evidently cannot handle gzip content. The gzip was installed to cope with the thousands of concurent users at any time of day - when nellys board reaches that kind of success lets see what he does to help with bandwidth.

Anyway I digress, in the next few minutes i will hopefully patch all our servers so it works, providing this doesnt have a negative effect this should stay and you should be able to untick that box.

  • Changed settings on the servers now - any luck guys?

    Hiya
I'd been getting the corrupt stylesheets for a while now (only at work though), but I haven't a problem yet today. :)

    Cheers

    Godders

P.S And if nellys board ever gets big enough I might be pm'ing you for tips ;)

I was only trying to help others! :D sorry if you saw it the wrong way - I've changed my sig now anyway and no longer request people to worship me :p

Thanks Neil/Webby for the help - couldn't have done it without that initial post :)

Btw I'm accessing this at a library (dropped by on my way home, just for you :D) and it showed up with the yellow triangle in the corner :( obviously I couldn't check if their little boxes were ticked :o hope this helps
  • I got a couple of colleagues to try this site (they now love it lol) but on both their computers it showed up all messy as I see it. One is using a new HP Tablet notebook so I can't see it as a problem with all three computers  Am I supposed to approach IT support maybe and say they've got a corrupted CSS file? It did get better this morning with proper arial font etc but now it's back to messy again :( thanks for helping webmaster and congrats on your new arrival :D :T

    Any luck now sophie?

Yes!!! :D It's all back now like it is at home :j Crabman I tried the tickbox thing (the one you "borrowed" off MSE Neil :p) but the pooter at work won't allow me into options, so I'm really glad now I can use this site at work during naptime :rotfl:

Thank you Neil! You're a star!! :kisses3: You deserve a pay rise (hint martin :rotfl: :p)

    Sophie :)

The forum has been wonky for me for months using IE, so I've been using Firefox to read it instead; however, I've just tried it with IE to see if it looks right now, and it does :)

Very pleased to hear we're getting there (even if som estill have glitches) I know the techie team are monitoring this - so any more general problems please do let us know.

PS I've changed the thread title a touch as it didnt really reflect what the site is about

Just to say that I was having HUGE problems with those things and I have now changed the settings (the HTML 1.1 ones) to match the suggested above and that has seemed to work.
Thank goodness I found the fix before I completely lost my marbles... it was driving me nuts! Seems to be working so far :D

Edited to say: DRAT spoke too soon... ok it's not as bad but it's still happening... have cleared everything in cache you name it... still happens... ARGH!!!
