  • Hey Webby - I'm having this problem at the mo with all the borders disappeared just as you describe :) it works fine when I'm at home just not at work, so I'm not sure why there's such a difference, considering I use the same laptop in boith locations
  • Crabman and Sophie, it could be your ISP. Try using a different ISP, e.g. one of the 'free' dial-up ones, and see if the problem persists.

OK well I used my onetel dial-up and it displayed correctly though did flip back once or twice but on my bb it's constantly like this :( what does my ISP have to do with this issue out of interest? I thought webby said it was something with their server style page?

Because your ISP could have an incorrect or corrupted copy of the CSS file in its cache and is sending you that instead. A different ISP will probably have the correct version of the file cached and pages will display OK.

    Try with a different browser.

If you can, see if the problem occurs on a different computer connected to the same ISP. If it does, it points even more to your ISP, although it's still possible that the problem is caused by software on both computers.

I find things more by luck than anything else
I do find the layout confusing

I tend to just dip in in and hopefuly come accross what
I was looking for or if lucky enough find a thread I have replied
to and click on my name to see the threads I have
    contributed to.

I know I am not the brightest spark in the box
but I have no clue where to find anything
relying on gradualy getting used to the format
and be able to work out where everything is,

at times theres just the titles
dotted about on the page so I just click on something
and eventualy it goes back to looking normal
again, agree you cant see who doing the
thanking or able to have the ability to be
emailed when ever theres a reply to a
thread you are interested in.I left a reply
    about washing machines yesterday
couldent even begin to find it again
but eventualy I will come accross it.

oh and theres nothing wrong with
my settings because I go on other
sites with forums and dont have any
    problems at all.
  • I got a couple of colleagues to try this site (they now love it lol) but on both their computers it showed up all messy as I see it. One is using a new HP Tablet notebook so I can't see it as a problem with all three computers  Am I supposed to approach IT support maybe and say they've got a corrupted CSS file? It did get better this morning with proper arial font etc but now it's back to messy again :( thanks for helping webmaster and congrats on your new arrival :D :T
  • I have no problems at home but have that problem at work.
  • Hello All,

We are still working on it and infact sophie from what you said today fills me with a bit of confidence. This morning I tried implementing something new and it is installed on one of our webservers, however we have more than one webserver, I will watch that one server and observe it over the next couple of days. If i find that the change I made has had no dramatical change to the running of the machine I will try the change on all of our servers.

What this means is that you have a probability of hitting the 'changed' server every so often but you are not garuanteed to hit this box consistantly. As I said if all is fine with this implementation I will migrate the settings to the other machines later.

    Neil
