Technical Glitchs On This Forum Compared To Others

I'm just wondering why there are always problems with this site when there are many others out there which use a similar software and look but never play up.
The whole evening I've had an awful time with the font in times new roman, not being able to use smilies, can't thank people, can't quick reply, can't view who's thanked whom.
Why does this forum have to be so complicated that i have problems here but not on other forum sites? I can't really read much because it's all over the place

Sorry, can't really help, but have had no problems on the site at all. Have you tried setting your screen to a different resolution - 1024 x 768 for normal screens or 1440 x 900 for widescreens?0

Thanks (can't thank you either :wall: ) I've got a 15.4 widescreen laptop screen but it's set normally at 1280 x 800 which is the max it goes to
it works fine with every other site I visit, just MSE

Why is it affecting you though...
What browser are you using
What O/S
Have you recently installed "security upgrades"
Have you recently installed any software
Have you changed any settings in your browser
BTW I use Firefox and IE on WinME, Win2k, XP Home, XP Pro without problems.0 -
Mine works fine as well with IE. Win xp pro service pack 2.
I must admit though that if I login and use the remember me option it does slow a small amount - so now I dont use that option and just log in if I want to post(unticking the remember me option of course).
Ive done this for a while now and never have a problem - but even then my problems where a while ago when they were changing some of the software.
Try running window washer or something similar and uncheck remember me see if that works.Aint got a signature - as I cant think of anything world wisely to say.0 -

THAT'S where I've been going wrong......
Crabman,
I get the same thing. it's to do with your temporary Internet files. When your font goes, it is because a style sheet (.CSS file) has been replaced by another, smaller file with the same name. Style sheets determine the fonts, sizes etc for a web page. The file in question is called
style-eefdfdc5-00002.css
if you delete this file, the next time you go in or hit ctrl+ F5, it should refresh correctly
The thanks button, as far as I can tell, is controlled by a javascript file (haven't found out which one yet). If you delete any file in your temporary Internet files folder with a .js extension, it should cure it
The short way, of course, is to just delete ALL the files in this folder.....:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood :dance:0 -

I've deleted all the files, I even went to delete the "objects" but then it crashed that IE window so here I am typing it again  I've run CCleaner as well so basically not a clue why I'm suddenly plagued by thisThe site seems sh1te like this and it looks like nothing is working to remedy it :wall:

Hi Crabman,
Sometimes one of our front end servers which holds the data for formatting the Forums can get a corrupt CSS file. Basically this means that all the nice text, colours, buttons and borders go missing and the site defaults to Times new Roman and looks generally rubbish. Does this sound like what you're seeing?
If so, then I would have thought the problem should have rectified itself by now or you would have hit one of the other servers where the CSS is still intact.
Can I ask how you link to the Forums? Do you open a window, type in www.moneysavingexpert.com and then click the Chat Forum link or do you have a shortcut in your favourites? If you have a shortcut, can you please post it here?
Is anyone else having this problem?
I'll keep investigating at this end.

Yes this is exactly what I'm experiencing.
This is the link I use in my favourites: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/subscription.html?
though I just tried going via https://www.moneysavingexpert.com and found that the "Done With errors on page" in bottom left only appears when I jump over to the forum. Btw I've just installed IE7 RC1 in the hope it would rectify this, sadly it has not
And as I said earlier I've deleted all the temporary and offline files and run ccleaner several times wiping all cookies, files etc but it still plays up.
I don't know much about the software but http://forums.catholic.com seem to use the same look as your site but that is just fine when I visit it - this site is the only one with probs so I'm thinking it's probably something with what you said about the server files?
Thanks for looking into this, much appreciated :beer:0
