I never got an e-mail conformation maybe because it's a hotmail account but my booking is confirmed on their web site. can you tell me if it's the same as the e-mail and should I print it out? and is this your 'ticket' or will something be sent through the post?
Try looking in your trash can on hotmail. Mine went straight into the trash can for some reason

  • Hi, Does anyone know if the ship will sell cigarettes and how many we are allowed to buy. I dont smoke but as soon as my mum found out I was going that was the first thing she asked!! Thanks.
Yes they should as it is a duty free crossing. Norway isn't part of EU as far as that sort of thing is concerned. So it is 200 ...

So, my dark past :) I happen to know the answer to the next question too...

You are allowed to by 200 on the way out, and 200 on the way back. Do not get carried away thinking it is just like going to france as you might find an officer being a bit shirty with you at customs. From experience if you got stopped with 3 sleeves then there wouldnt be much questioning, but any more than that and you will lose it better off sticking to the law, 1 out, 1 in, 2 in total.

OK I have booked my B&B for the night we return back to Newcastle and I thought I would give the rest of you the info incase any of you wanted to book it for your trip. The postcode for where you get on and off the ship is NE29 6EE so if you type it into any B&B website it will come up with a list of nearby B&Bs. This one is apparantly on the doorstep.

    We are staying at:

    The Royal Quays Hotel,
    Coble Dean Road,
    North Shields,
    Tyne and Wear,
    NE29 6DL

    Tel: 0191 2580287

It's £50 for a double room for one night. I booked by phone because it wouldnt let me book anything less than 2 nights on their website. They are sending written confirmation too.

  • Hiya,

I just wanted to say a huge thank you to the OP, what a fantastic offer.

I am happy to say that I was one of the lucky few and managed to get a booking for 25th November. I'm just trying to figure out the cheapest way up from Suffolk now.

    Thanks again.

Sharon, have a look at post 160.Gner train from Peterboro is probably best,National Express is cheapest but takes too long. There might be cheap flights Stansted-Newcastle(Havent looked)
If booking trains do seperate tickets, say Ipswich-Peterboro return(or wherever you are)Then singles Peterboro-Newcastle,selecting GNER advance purchase 1 fares, these are £8.45 each way for the PBO-Newcastle leg.

  • couldn't you have booked 2 tickets for seperate days. One pair in the name of you, the other in the name of your partner, and then do an overnight or two in bergen and get to see it a bit. Or am I just being greedy?

I dont think that would work as you have to pick your tickets up on the day of departure.
