Last time I went they didn't place any restriction on it; you could take as much as you could carry.
  • Hi, I was lucky, going 11th november booked seaview with double bed. Leaving the kids at home!! Other half feeling lucky now!!
  • Can I make a list of all those going on the 13th Feb ?

    To start with:

Me :D ( Female named Sal, pleased to meet you ;o) ) plus 2 kids ( Though youngest is scared stiff after watching the Titanic and doesn't want to go ! )

Ps. I've booked the Central Travelodge for the night of the 12th as well ! May meet a few of you there ? :)
  • whooo hoooo! I managed to book for 11th November if anyone else is going then let me know :D

Girlfriends birthday hahaha! "Hey sweetheart, as well as that stereo I got you (from staples) and the phone (overcharged by tesco) I have booked us on a nice cruise to the romantic city of Bergen. :D

PS, How can you tell what sort of room you have?

Guess what Norway is not in the EU so tax free shopping too!!! more money to be saved on this freebie
    whoopppie
    :money:
  • ITs better than that, the electricity supply is 220V at 50Hz so my guess is everything you buy will work just peachy :D with our 240V 50Hz system.
    Tax-Free Shopping

If you are visiting Norway and purchase eligible goods, it is possible to receive the tax back again. Here's how you do it.

    1. Look for the tax-free logo. In Norway, the VAT (value added tax) is included in the retail price tag and makes up to 23% of the price of the good. About 220 shops in Bergen offer 15% - 22% cash refund of VAT when your purchases equal or exceed NOK 300,-.
    2. Ask for a Tax Refund Cheque. Show your id or passport to prove you are a resident outside of Norway. The shop assistant then wraps and seals the goods. The cheque must be completed at the time of purchase and contain your name, address and passport number.
    3. Claim your refund when departing Bergen and you will immediately receive your cash refund. Show the Tax Refund representative (not the Customs official)
    1. the sealed goods
    2. your id and/or passport
    3. the tax refund cheque

    It's that easy.

come on everyone, track some bargains before we go eh :D
  • The exchange rate at the moment is quite high in fact the highest its been all year
    Currency Conversion Results
    Symbol British Pound Exchange
    Rate Norwegian Krone Bid Ask
    GBPNOK=X 1 28 Sep 12.253 12.253

may be worth get a few now rather than later
  • To be honest unless someone points something thats a real bargain I don't think I will do a lot of shopping there. Initial research is showing it to be expensive, obviously if someone finds a real bargain I will be in like a shot.
