Not 100% sure re the evening buffet - we ate about 9.00 (evening service was 6:00 til 10:00), I remember my son had some beautiful roast beef that the chef sliced for him and I saw other people having the beef on the gorgeous sliced bread and dolloping gravy over it - will check with the missus when she gets back as to what we had and what the temperature of the food was like (I will eat anything and prefer cold food).

A couple of slightly drunken people - nationality unknown - we weren't out past 10.00 so don't know if people got drunker as nights progressed.

We were on deck 9 with sea view.

Yep, breakfast was help yourself buffet-style. Price of 99 NOK (Norwegian Kroner) per adult and 49.50 NOK per child (up to age 15 - my 15 year-old son is 6ft 2in and eats like a horse!!! darn good value).

Choice of approx 5 cereals, plain yoghurt, fruit (lots of choice), bread, toast (do-it-yourself), crisp breads, buns, Norwegian bread, Danish pastries, variety of cheeses, variety of cold meats, pate, pickled fish, scrambled eggs, hard-boiled eggs, beans, bacon (well-done small bits), little sausages, pancakes with drizzly syrup-type stuff, orange juice, tropical fruit juice, milk, water, tea and coffee.

We went back umpteen times, trying just a little of each - although it's easy to overdo things as my son found out when he got a sore stomach later.

Good tip - in true MSE style we got some spare napkins and 'saved' some Danish pastries for later but watch if you try it 'cause they're very sticky!

Exchange rate on board was 12,33 NOK to 1GBP so 50 NOK was £3.93 and 100 NOK was £7.86 (they do a handy little printed Conversion Table available at the Customer Service desk/Bureau De Change) -actually just looking at those figures and checking with my trusty calculator shows the printed Conversion Table appears to be wrong - so much for that then!!

Anyways all the receipts on-board are in NOK and GBP so you can pay with either - our bill for the 2 adults and two children was £24.10

    HTH

we never had roast meats on the buffet in evening,we went around 6pm thought the meatballs and breads,we had prebooked breakfasts at £8 each,so could have been cheaper to pay on board

There you go, who needs the missus - you've jogged my aged memory - I had spaghetti and opted for the bolognese sauce - it was delicious but yep not really hot at all.

Mrs Shaboo had something with some mixed rice which tasted as if it had a 'drizzle' of some kind of oil on it - tasted very nice as well. To be honest I don't think there was a huge choice but then it had been free since 6:00 so may have run out of things and we'd already eaten in the Coffee shop (again not cheap but lovely paninis and salmon buns although very limited choice) at 5:15 ish so weren't all that hungry.

    Cheers,

Well, we were on that trip too, and can say that I feel as though I am still on the boat as I sit here and type - we should have had some MSE badges on to spot each other. I was telling a couple that we met that we got it for free, and they were really sick - well, sicker than they were with that terrible weather!!

LOL, that is so true - we've all been experiencing the same thing today - gets you funny looks when you grab the checkout at Sainsbury's 'cause you think you're starting to sway.
