I do indeed! I'm slightly horrified by how much we've spent in the last 3 weeks, but it was all necessary and we're so much happier now we're settled in our new home (I can stretch my legs out in the sitting room and not knock into the tv cabinet, luxury! :rotfl:) that I'm regarding it as an essential spend. Only a couple of bits left to get, including a new mirror for bathroom, as the existing cabinet fell off the wall while we were away at the weekend!

We've added a few months to our DFD, so now in full debtbusting mode to try and knock 6 months off DFD in order to meet our target of end 2011. It's only an extra £3900 or so, piece of cake right?!

I'm definitely looking forward to being able to use the money we currently pay to debts each month for something more useful/enjoyable! In total we're paying £1115 every month, and that will increase to £1160 in the new council tax year (paying 6 months over 4 months after moving, despite the fact that i sent them all the forms the week we moved in ).

I'm really looking forward to being able to save that much each month towards buying our own house one day :)

Aah, i'm so pleased that you are both really happy in your new home and i'm sure that a place of your 'own' will come along sooner than you think :D

I'm 100% with you on the debt busting now. I turn 32 next Wednesday () and I can honestly say i'm not looking forward to it one bit and have vowed NOT to be in this situation by the time I turn 33 as would like to get married and have little ones without any financial implications. So, lets put our minds to it and really make the rest of this year and 2011 count for something! Hope I can help keep you motivated!

Welcome to my virtual kick up my own backside!! Need to get myself organised as so much going on and it's nearly Xmas too

At the moment with house sorting, work, finances, life in general I have found myself in a complete organisational mess and can't seem to get on top of any of it right now. It's stressing me out and that's not good.

So first things first, I am going to work until 6:30pm to get on top of my work load - although this doesn't really matter as i'll only be given just as much work to do come tomorrow. It's just really busy and never ending with work at the moment. I think if I got on top of everything else then work wouldn't be so bad but at mo i'm starting work 7:30ish and finishing 6ish so it's quite a long old day as it is and then I can't be-bothered to do any more.

OH and I discussed our annual Xmas trip away and have decided that things have been too expensive and we can't really afford it :( I'm a little upset as it's been a annual thing of ours but we're still going to have the days off of work so that we get to spend some 'quality' time together which is a bit hit and miss of late. He works shifts, i'm in office a bit of late so nice 2-3 hour commutes each way to London office - three times next week  Needless to say one tired and grumpy Choc at the end of it all and no time to do anything.

Money - well need more and have to spend less - simples ;)

Diet - been doing far too much comfort eating of late and have gone to my biggest weight ever of 11st.....thankfully it's evenly spread but I can feel it and I feel fat and horrible. Started on a little health kick properly this week and already feeling better for it, not sure if i've lost any weight though and won't weigh myself until Sunday and shall see then.

Coffee - hmmm, I think i'm addicted. I literally have about 15 cups a day, minimum! Eek! So I am embarking on cutting it out completely as know when decide to have little one I will have to anyway so why not start now and i'm sure it'll do me the world of good.

So there we have it choc land as crazy as ever and I want normality back....somehow! Best get thinking cap on, whatever it'll be i'll ensure it's small baby steps as don't want to fall at first hurdle.

Have a good eve all, back to work for me xx

Hi Choc, sorry I have been absent for a while!

I can tell you are gutted about not having your trip this year but for what it's worth, I think you are doing the right thing. Moving house is so expensive and when you think of the bigger picture - babies and marriage etc then hopefully it wont seem so bad :). Even a few days off together will be nice, there is always lots on around xmas so maybe you could still go out together? My work mate has had a few weeks off with her OH and stayed in the UK, on the most recent break they did a quad biking safari and she thoroughly enjoyed it!

Good on you for your coffee culling mission! Just don't try and do it all at once or you might end up with withdrawal headaches and they are N A S T Y .

    Anyhoo, normality??!??! Whassat?! :rotfl:

Very happily married on 10th April 2013 :D

Ummmm, no idea??!! :rotfl: Hoping I may find it one day though.

I just get sick of money dictating my life and it's problems - need to swap that around so I am in control and it is not :p

Def agree with you on holiday, we've spent a small fortune this year and I really think now it is time to 100% focus on getting things sorted. Plus we had a holiday in June so I can't complain.

Payday tomorrow and I am hoping to add some cash to the savings for settlements - really see this as perhaps my way forward to becoming debt free sooner :D
  • Hey Choc....be really careful with the coffee cullling mission. I went from drinking coffee all day every day to nothing at all and ended up really really ill in bed for over a week with full on withdrawal symptoms. Was so sick and in pain I would never recommend it to anyone! Get some decaff in and alternate caffeine and decaff throughout the day, slowly building up to only drinking decaff and then reducing the number of decaff cups per day to one or two or nothing at all.

Thanks for that, it's on my to do list....pick up some decaff and also trying out some herbal teas rather than drinking coffee and tea. First thing is to try and cut down and more water!

Thanks ladies! I'm really feeling in the right mindset right now....lets hope it continues ;)

Pink - I think every amount matters be it small or large....my debt in Nov 2007 was just over 63k so I am pleased to have it down to just over 39k now. However, my credit history is ruined.....not that I am ever planning on credit again barr being put jointly on mortgage once it's repaired itself!

What really depresses me is thinking that had I not this debt i'd have a spare 1k per month or more to do with what I like.....now that's depressing but actually motivation at the same time :)
