Thought i'd quickly update whilst i'm checking on some work emails (yes on my last day off :o)....just checked bank balance and looking ok (ish) if I have me a frugal couple of weeks. Didn't reach my goals by end of 2010 that I wanted but that said I do have £500 in my savings, over £200 in current acc and £50 cash and some change in my purse....it's payday in two weeks so hopefully it'll still look as pretty as that come then if i'm super good. No mad plans for New Year, just spending it with a friend and her little ones (wedding talk!!!) as her OH is in band and playing a gig for the night. I'm actually really looking forward to a quite one without excessive drinking and to wake up and start the NY positively! OH is working so he won't be home until 6am NY days :(

Feeling super positive about the coming year and have a massive pad of brain storming ideas for what I would like to achieve both on a personal and financial level....now need to summerise these in some kind of order and also now include the wedding plans....which obviously change some of my financial goals a little too.

Hope everyone has had a fab Xmas, back to work for me tomorrow but not too bothered.

I am glad to hear you so upbeat about the new year, you certainly have loads to look forward to hun :j. Any ideas on a wedding date yet or are you looking to do some saving first?

We have absolutely no plans for NYE, last year we ended up going to OH's mates house and I hated it! I have told him in no incertain terms we are not going there again this year :rotfl:, I guess we will probably stay home and play on the xbox or similar.

    Hey lovely,

Only thing we know is that it'll be between Oct 2011 and Apr 2012....that's it for now. These months are our fav of the year so would feel weird to us having a big wedding in summer months when neither of us feel anything about them apart from them being too hot!!!. I'm hoping for an Mar/Apr 2012 wedding or a proper winter one - we shall see!

Been very lucky and Dad is putting money into our wedding account weekly (as paid weekly) as of next week to help cover initial deposit costs etc straight up and my Mum is giving us some money too. Over the period of next year it should amount to approx £4k or a little bit more by time of wedding/full payments required- very kind of them as they aren't that well off if you get what I mean. We do have savings and have set ourselves a target to saving £250 each (minimum) into wedding account each month so that'll be £500 per month minimum from January going in also - I think with everyone's kind gestures and our own savings we should meet £1000 per month going into savings which is fab. Hopefully this will cover most costs and my Dad has also kindly offered to pay for my dress etc, although we shall see on that one as I feel he is doing more than enough already. I am a very lucky girl.

NYE is always a let down for me, I just don't get excited about it so much any more and would much prefer to be in bed asleep! :rotfl:Although I can't wait for 2011 to start as it's def a year that will be hard work, fun, exciting and busy all in one and I can't wait to kick this debts backside once and for all as don't want to start married life with so much bad debt....onwards and upwards I say!!!

    xx

How fantastic that your parents are able to help as well, it sounds like you will have plenty of funds to have the day of your dreams and you thoroughly deserve it :D. I had my eye on Friday the 13th of April 2012 but can't see that happening now :rotfl:

It will come round so quickly! My boss got engaged last Xmas eve and he gets married in the coming June, I can't believe it's been a year already . My work colleague is getting married summer 2012 she reckons so it's going to be all go. How fab for you all (and my turn next hopefully!)

    xx

I reckon your OH will surprise you when you least expect (perhaps the Maldives??).....my OH always used to say the more you talk about it the less likely it is to happen. I got the hint many moons ago and now look at us. I think for some men it has to click in their head and it'll mean so much more to you if he randomly surprises you with a proposal....think it took me a few days to let it all sink in!

Lots of work to be done with debt busting meanwhile......got to be a financially capable wife, lol :rotfl:

Roll on 2012! Not that i'm wishing anyones (or mine) lifes away here it's just a rather important day is awaiting ;) xx

With a New Year fast approaching I thought it appropriate now to write my goals/aims for 2011.

    Financial
    • Total debt to be 20k or less.
    • Total debt repayments to be £500 or less per month.
    • Save £250 per month to wedding fund.
    • Budget/save for regular expenses i.e. car, xmas, bdays, perscriptions, dentist and so on.
    • Better food shopping/spending - become more savy and save money.
    Personal
    • To enjoy and plan our wedding.
    • To become generally more organised both home and work.
    • To get to 9st.
    • Eat a sensible and healthy diet (no fads!).
    • Exercise regularly.
    • To spend more 'quality' time with OH, friends and family.
    • To get back to climbing at least once a week and ensure we do more outdoor climbing once weather is better.
    • To learn something new every month - of my choice be it history. event in more details, new language (basics!) or how to bake or make something from scratch.
There, done and set! I'm actually really excited about the year ahead and can't wait for us all to head further down the line to debt freedom!!! :D

Ooooh Choc have you set a date? :D

The goals sound very good, I wish I could be somewhere near 9 stone :o. Hoping that my Wii Fit will help!

I am quite excited about the new year as well, this year has had it's ups and downs but overall it wasn't too bad and there is lots to look forward to ;)

Very happily married on 10th April 2013 :D
