They don't fit them free, they charge £74.95 whether you have a free parts warranty or not.
See now you have just contradicted your earlier post.

Parts are free as the claim. Its the labour that is not..

I can do it quite easily myself thanks..
im not sure the calipers and headbrace are helping you though.
Parts are replaced FREE if fitted by a Hotpoint fitter..
what is wrong with that?what do you not understand about that?
are fitters not allowed to charge?one of the famous 50 -

They charge £74.95 to fit the smallest part.
They also charge £74.95 to fit a large part to a machine that doesn't have the so called free parts guarantee.
So in other words there is no 'free parts at all' it is a CON
When people like you stick up for companies like this, it allows them to get away with this misleading practice.0 -

Haven't read the whole thread here but would like to add that I have a Hotpoint which was sold with a 5 year warranty(not a purchased add on warranty) Machine broke, no problem I thought, called to book a service engineer, one available in two weeks time and call out fee £120(but I will get free parts!!) I called a local engineer(came out same day) £35 fixed!!
As with most companies they write what they want you to see in large writing and hide all the other bits in tiny writing somewhere.0 -

:rotfl:That's exactly what I did, except the same fault developed a few months later. It was a design fault in the condensor tumble dryer. Water was getting into the heater element!!!
As I said before and would warn anyone else, DON'T TOUCH HOTPOINT PRODUCTS WITH A BARGE POLE.
They are not the good old reliable British made products from years ago any more.0 -

Finally a sensible post on this thread...if you don't like Hotpoint machines because of reliability etc, fair comment to post your feelings, but posters shouldn't "run off" at the mouth shouting "con" and "rip off" when clearly it's not...if you have a problem or want to vent about something fair enough...but don't shout "con" without substantive proof (none of which has been proved about the 5 yr g'tee)...
and here's the rub about other posters on threads on MSE who claim "con", "rip-off" and use terms like "fraudsters", if you haven't got proof...shut up...if you have, take it to the small claims court, trading standards or even the High Courts...put your money where your mouth is...otherwise you'll just be another whinging ranter ... you need proof ...or stop whinging.:beer:I'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j

My 80 year old mother recently ordered a new Hotpoint appliance from Boots. Having dealt with the details of the purchase, the sales person went on to 'explain' the warranty. It all sounded fine until she suddenly demanded my mothers bank account number and sort code (the purchase was via credit card). Surprised, my mother refused and asked why. Only then was she told that the warranty was no longer free. To the obvious anger of the sales person (they are on commission), she declined.
How many people would have unthinkingly given those details? How many people would have given their details and then, having found what it was for, declined ... only to discover that it had been put through anyway?"Never underestimate the mindless force of a government bureaucracyseeking to expand its power, dominion and budget"Jay Stanley, American Civil Liberties Union.0 -

On the other hand, it's also true to say that the law cannot cover every eventuality. Just because something is legal, doesn't make it right.
Many firms sail close to the wind (and Hotpoint is one of them), but few would hesitate to condemn what they do, even though it may technically be within the law."Never underestimate the mindless force of a government bureaucracyseeking to expand its power, dominion and budget"Jay Stanley, American Civil Liberties Union.0
