Hotpoint 5 Yr Parts - What a Con!

Asking that the part is fitted by an approved engineer as part of a guarantee is nothing new. I can't imagine many firms would stand by a product after any Tom, !!!!!! or Harry had had a go at fixing it himself.
Hotpoint offer a free parts guarantee on the proviso that you use their engineer, whom you pay for his/her labour. This is all detailed within the contract that you agreed to. There is no con here.
This is hard work........
Read slowly my post I clearly stated this:So if you have a 2 year old machine and it needs a new pump the bill will be £74.95. If you have a 6 year old machine and it has the same fault it still costs £74.95.0 -
The other issue with this is even if the replacement part you may need to repair may cost say £5 and take 20 minutes to repair, £75 doesn't really equate to good value, when a local independent repairer would probably do it for half that price including paying for the part (obviously it would be more expensive for labour in certain regions).
That's why I object to these fixed cost repairs.0 -
Because it does not state in the T&C's that they charge £74.95 flat fee (which includes parts and labour) even if you have a 5 years parts guarantee.
So if you have a 2 year old machine and it needs a new pump the bill will be £74.95. If you have a 6 year old machine and it has the same fault it still costs £74.95.
That makes it a CON
no no no.. They state they will replace the parts but labour is not included which makes it 75 notes.one of the famous 5

I hope they win
Have you considered you may have the same problem of not being able to read things properly.0 -

Nope.
I read things as the7y are set out.
Clearly states they will replace parts free if fitted by a Hotpoint engineer. Mind it doesnt state that you have to pay for said engineeer but that wasnt part of the T&Cs was it?one of the famous 5

They don't fit them free, they charge £74.95 whether you have a free parts warranty or not.0
