I agree it stinks, but they get away with it.

I bought a Hotpoint tumble dryer a couple of years ago and would not touch another Hotpoint product with a barge pole now. Since they have been taken over by Indesit they make nothing but cheap crap and sell it at a premium price due to the ONCE trusted Hotpoint badge.
Basically my advice to all out there is avoid Hotpoint products at all costs. They certainly aren't the quality they used to be.0 -

sorry, but re the sticker, what part did you not understand? Which part is misleading? Which part stinks?...if you didn't ask the sales assistant any questions, or they didn't offer any advice (wouldn't be working in my shop if thats how they perform) and there's a few chains where they don't because of lack of product knowledge ( Currys, Argos etc) that's why manufacturers have had to resort to "silent salesmen" ... i.e. stickers about g'tee and efficiency info...
So again, what part of the sticker did you not understand?I'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j

At the end of the day it is a con by Hotpoint. It's a bit of marketing that sounds good and gives the impression that they are confident in the quality of their products.
The con is that you have to have a Hotpoint engineer to come out and carry out the repair at a vastly inflated price, which more often than not doesn't make it financially sensible because you are almost paying as much to get an engineer to carry out some crappy repair as to buy a new (different make) replacement!0 -

OK then...I look forward to seeing your posts about the "cons" of all the major car manufacturers etc who advertise 3, 7 year or even "lifetime" warranty on their cars, in Hotpoints case it's been the same for over 30 years, its always been on offer and you DON'T have to avail of it....
and again, what part of "5 year parts warranty" is confusing OR misleading.I'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j

There is far too much misleading advertising going on in this country. People like you that accept it and this allows it to continue.
Putting "T&Cs apply" on an advert is not misleading.
The whole ethos of this site is to make customers realise that they have to look after themselves and not expect business to hold their hands.
So many threads on these forums are started by people who failed to read the T&Cs, agreed to them anyway and then, several months later, find that they contained a clause they didn't like.
I don't understand why anybody would willingly enter into a contract without knowing what they were agreeing to.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
The misleading part is that the parts that are covered under the guarantee HAVE to be installed by a Hotpoint engineer who proceed to charge you a stupid call out fee regardless of the actual cost of the repair.0
