It's people like you that allow companies to deceive people.

How is it deception when it says t+c's apply but people cant be bothered to read or ask for them ?

The last plumber I had out for something was £60 per half hour and that was the pick of the bunch.

    Plumbers don't fix washing machines.

They do a fixed rate parts and labour repair for £74.99, whether you have a 5 yr parts warranty or not.
  • I have a hotpoint and knew when I purchased it that it had five year part warranty. I knew that this meant if there was a fault I would have to pay a call out fee but not the costs of the parts that may need to be replaced.

for best after service I would recommend meille.
    In debt but coping:j

The T&C's are in small print and not readily available to see.

Yes most people don't bother to read them, that's how the manufacturers get away with it.

Hotpoint have been offering this for over 30 years, their products are usually "flashed" with this info and I find it hard to believe that when a shopper looks at buying this item they didn't ask the sales person at least 1 question, e.g. what's the spin speed or what load does it take, is there a timer on it etc....so unless they are dumbstruck the next sensible question is normally "how does the 5 year g'tee work" ... in my days of electrical selling, it always came up same as the old Morphy Richards 2 year g'tee..."how does that work"...

you'll find that most sales people use it in their discussions to make the sale, that's when the question normally gets asked...

as regards involving Trading Standards...I wouldn't waste their time...as I said to start with, 5 year G'tee has been running with Hotpoint for years ... if TS haven't had any issue with them, they're unlikely to have one now....
    I'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j

Those who can do, those who can't, come to me for lessons:cool:

The point is you shouldn't have to ask questions.

Admittedly TS allow it, as they allow DFS to get away with their so called half price sofa's. Still worth complaining though, if more people to do it may make a difference one day.

Its not misleading, if it says subject to T+C's then its up to consumers to read those terms, if people cant be bothered then that's there problem because they are too lazy to ask

There is far too much misleading advertising going on in this country. People like you that accept it and this allows it to continue.

Often when people do ask they are lied to or mislead by the salesperson.
