I use a toilet roll a week. I use Morrisons Softer I think it's called. On a womanly week I'll use more but not too much more.

I live alone and work full time. I always go to the loo before leaving work but never do a number 2 anywhere but at home. I use 5 sheets for a pee and 2+2+2 for a poo. I have been thinking of using old towels cut up for pee drippings - just waiting for my towels to get old enough! lol

I started monitoring my usage when I had a male lodger and always seemed to be starting on a new roll. Then one day (a Saturday) I decided to do a test. I put a new one out and took one away for my use. My lodger came home at 11.00pm that night, the next day he told me he was moving out to go stay with his girlfriend so he left at 1.30 on the Sunday afternoon. He had used over half the toilet roll!!! What on earth do men do with it?!

Anyway, I plan on getting a load in before the VAT rise along with other VATable stuff.

I might add, I bought some really cheap toilet rolls (I think 12 for £1.26) about 6 months ago and I use them instead of kitchen roll. I find them much more versatile as I can just pull off one square if I just need to wipe a mug ring rather than a whole sheet of kitchen roll.

    Hope that helps,

    Poo

Nothing wrong with reusables if you have the time, don't throw knickers away which have the same stuff on and I bet most people launder them with 'normal' clothes instead of rags and knicks bucket!

Other suggestion having a loo roll per person and see who can use the least

If there is all working adults everyone buy their own, their choice then noone has to use 'butt scratch' stuff who wants soft

Be careful when trying to get little ones to use less as you won't want them to be sore
One day I might be more organised...........

    Reduced to 5% in 2001.

Often campaigns and petitions in the media, but not yet VAT exempt.
The European Union rules say that once VAT is imposed it cannot be reduced below 5%

  • Have decided to cut down on my consumption of loo roll by 50% - by sawing each roll in half (no not that way silly!) :rotfl:
  • When I was a child mum used to cut newspapers into squares, thread string though them and hang it up on a nail.

It was great cos after use if you were bored you could get a mirror and read your own backside!

I find one good baby wipe (like a Huggies) deals with a loose(r) one quicker & easier than a big wadge of loo roll - I can't believe I've posted this:o:o:o:o:o:o

I understood that you are not supposed to flush baby wipes - we use toddler wipes which you can flush - I buy from Savers the 'cheeky monkey' brand are only 39p but the same ones in Wilkos are 99p or similar - we also use 'Nikki' brand quilted loo roll from Farmfoods at £2 for 9 rolls or £1 for 4 rolls

I seriously cannot believe how much loo roll some of you use! I use maybe 1 roll a month - and I wouldn't say I was skimpy with it ...

Oh, and don't flush any sort of wipes even if they *say* flushable - they may go down the drain (which is what "flushable" means), but they won't break down properly & WILL eventually clog the system. If you want to test if your wipe is ok, put one in a glass of water for 5 mins & see what it looks like then - loo roll will have virtually disintegrated, a wipe will still be a wipe ...
