I have some free range chicken boned and skinned thighs and drummers, what can I do with them in the slow cooker that's healthy-ish please?

Yesterday I made a Chicken Caserole with free range chicken thighs.
    Here is the recipe

8 x Chicken Thighs (I peeled the skin off first, but left bones in).
    2 xTins chopped tomatoes
1 Vegetable Caserole bag from Tesco (which contained 4 Carrots, 1 Onion, 1 Swede, 1 Parsnip) - Peeled and chopped all these
    1 x Knorr Chicken Cube

Cooked on Low for approx 7/8 hours, I then removed the chicken bones. I thought it was really tasty.

  • brown sausages and onions together and any other veg you are using. make a gravy/sauce add to the sausages and onions etc. bring to the boil then put into the slow cooker. cook for a couple of hours thicken when ready to serve.

    Hi ragz,

There are some nice ideas here: Chicken in the slow cooker.

Any recipes for breasts of chicken, just substitute with the thighs and drumsticks (which in my opinion are much better in a slow cooker than breast meat).

I put my slow cooker on at 4pm (last minute decision) for dp's dinner, he'll be home around 10.15pm. I've bunged beef and ale stew in it, and have browned everything off first. Will 6 hours on high be enough for it or am I better to stick him a pizza in and turn the beef and ale to low and serve it up for tea tomorrow night?

Please say it will be ok lol, I've kind of taken pot luck at it.

How on earth do u find bargains like that! lol
  • I had to look twice - i thought someone had swopped the price labels but no they started off at £10.38 each down to £7.79 and then £1.04 - so i grabbed both like a demented woman!! I am going to enjoy every mouthful!!

Our Tesco is being refitted and they seem to have the ordering a bit wrong - few weeks ago I bought 5 avacados for 10p each!!

Thanks Pink and Sarah! I'll give it a bash on Saturday and try and remember to let you guys know how it turns out! :)
    Hi guys!

Just remembered to report back and let you know that slow cooker spag bol with Dolmio instead of chopped toms worked a treat! Used 2 large onions, four sticks of celery, a grated carrot, 500g mince, 300ml stock I froze from a brisket joint, an OXO stock cube and Bisto gravey granules to thicken, and got 8 good size portions. Cooked for about 8 hours on low, tastes great! :)
