Apologies if this has been covered in this already but I've only quickly scanned through the pages...SORRY:o
For some reason my meat seems to be drying out in my slow cooker. I have a large Morphy richards (6 litre I think). I put everything in at around 7am and leave it on low till I come home at 5 ish. I made a sweet and sour pork in it last night and I found the meat was very dry. The same happened with my chicken casserole and my chilli last week. I always make sure the meat is just covered with liquid - do I need to add more liquid? Is it possible to overcook in a slow cooker? Or do I have a faulty one?
Banana LoversBuy your bananas in bunches of 5 on Sunday. Then arrange them in order of ripeness and write a day of the week on each banana in felt pen, Monday on the ripest, Friday on the greenest to save time making those decisions on a hectic weekday morning0 -

Hello all!
First time on this bit of the board so thought I'd come say hello
After reading through a fair few posts last night, I was inspired to get some beef out of the freezer and slow cook it for our tea tonight to save money (we were going to have fish and chips) It got me thinking, what sort of things I could cook in there from the cupboards and wondered if you had any suggestions?
I've got most general storecupboard ingredients, stock, herbs, tinned tomatoes, pearl barly that kind of thing.
Thank you!0 -
Hi blueelephanttrunk,
Welcome to Old Style
These threads have lots of recipes which use basic storecupboard items and should give you some inspiration.:
