Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.

Noooo, don't do that, we said your more than welcome here, and you are :D I had a milk free diet a little while ago, (under hospital supervision) only for IBS though not Crohn's so nowhere near as serious. So I am a little aware of special diets.

Breakfast - porriage or oat granola (very expensive but hard to get cheap versions - esp without strawberries in!).

True, but you can make your own granola ;)

Lunches - tend to have a wholemeal wrap with sliced meat & spinach. I used to make a lot of soup but veg ones aren't great and got totally sick of lentil!

Wraps are nice arn't they? much nicer than bread IMO easier to digest as well. Do you freeze most of the packet and take out just a couple at a time? ;)

If you make veg soup, could you stir in abit of plain cooked chicken, might make it more interesting. Again you can freeze cooked chicken in portions, you don't have to have it everyday until its gone.

Dinner - shepherd's pie, corned beef hash, pasta bakes, lasagne, chicken breasts with whatever, roast chicken now and then etc - I take the leftovers for lunch the next day as always make too much!

Thats good that you take the left overs. Some people always make too much so that they have pack-ups the next day.

Thanks Linda (didn't run and hide on purpose, one of my pals phoned and I didn't get round to coming back to the thread!).

Some good ideas there - off to try to find a receipe to make granola as never even thought of trying to make this!

Penelope Penguin again, thanks - will have a trawl through these too!

Glad of all the tips not to put too much liquid in as I would've assumed you needed to add loads if you're leaving it on all day!

  • I made sausage casserole yesterday in my SC and it was rotten. I made the sause with a packet mix from schwartz which seemed to seperate and evaporate. Where have I gone wrong?

Today I made meatballs and tomato sauce but the meatballs were hard. Do these need to be fully covered in sauce? Where have I gone wrong?

I normally just make soup or stew in mine but want to start using it more

    All help appreciated

Sounds like it was on too high. Have you looked at the manual?

As this has fallen from the front page of OS, I'll add it to the existing thread, spo that you can see if there are more suggestions.

i don't make sure my meats are cover and i never dry roast stuff so i don't think thats the issue so i agree with everyone else sounds like it's too hot

    Hi,

Wondering if you can help me. I have started my veg for my slow cooker and I'm scared it wont be right cos im not very experienced.

Ive put in so far a white onion, 2 carrots, a few sticks of celery and some shredded savoy cabbage.

I wanted it to be a beef stew - if I throw some diced beef in and some stock will it be ok?

I have got chicken breasts but they dont seem to go right with all the veg,

    Thanks

I would brown the meat first before you put it in. It will be much much nicer this way. I have never made a beef stew in a SC but I'm sure someone will be along in a mo to help you out.
