  • Sounds good to me - I might take out the cabbage and pop it in for the last half an hour - and bear in mind the fact that it won't thicken up, so you'll need to add something like cornflour or tomato puree at the end.

  • Does anybody ever put frozen meat eg chicken drumsticks/pork steaks in the slow cooker or would it be best to defrost first? I am always forgetting to take stuff out of the freezer!
    Also I have some frozen salmon fillets (bought frozen from asda) has anyone any ideas for cooking this in the sc I have never cooked fish in the sc would it just turn to mush? And come to think of it would my house pong of fish for days ;)

    I had read somewhere that you shouldn't put frozen meat in as it doesn't get hot enough for long enough..

    I cheat with the frozen meat. I make up everything the night before and shove the frozen meat in - then in the morning just switch it on, meat is defrosted and all is well :)

  • hope this hasn't been mentioned before but does anyone have a recipe for cooking lamb shanks with a sauce similar to that that comes in ready meal lamb shanks and frozen lamb shanks? I think the frozen ones tend to be in a minted gravy but I have had a fresh one before that came in a redcurrant sauce?
    if anyone has any different ideas for cooking lamb shanks then i'd love to hear them as it's my favourite dinner!

    I got a slowcooker for christmas and have yet to use it. I am confused do i have to add liquid to all dishes or not? and how much?

    also has anyone got a nice recipe for using chicken thighs in a slow cooker.

    Also can you roast in a slow cooker?
