Mine is a Swan 6.5l slow cooker. Not sure if they exist anymore ? Anyway I have had it for at least 7 yrs but always only used low or high settings. Next time I will experiment with 'auto' and see how it goes.
Thank you.0 -
Hi
I have beef left over from todays roast and was thinking of chucking it in the sc tomorrow with some new potatoes and veg, for the kids. Anyway then had a hankering for some dumplings, but was wondering how long before the end of cooking time do I need to put them in. And also as I'll be at work can I make the dumplings up in the morning and put them in the fridge for dh to stick in?
Thanks so much
p.s I love this board:smileyhea
Yes they will be fine in the fridge. I like small dumplings so usually put them in the SC an hour before end of cooking time but if they are larger then 1 1/2 hrs0 -
thanks so much, came home from a hard days work to a lovely stew.....with half a dumpling left:mad:
It must have been nice as even dh ate them and he hates stew!
Still that will teach me I knew I should have doubled the receipe;)'You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose' - Dr Suess

Glad the dumpling went down well, you will have to make extra next time! :rotfl: A good variation with them is to add to the dumpling mix finely chopped fried onions and smoke streaky bacon that has been chopped and cooked till crisp. They are yummy :A0

I had 2 chicken legs in the slow cooker yesterday with a bit of water and herbs for 10 hours on low. When I peeled the skin back the chicken had a pinky hue. Is this normal? It shredded easily, fell off the bone, and there was no blood.0
